HMB, "The Muscle-Loss Buffer". Say "post the HMB one" if you want it up. HMB (β-hydroxy-β-methylbutyrate) is a metabolite of the amino acid leucine, sold as a supplement. Here's what the research says, and where it falls short. In a tracer study of 8 young men, one oral serving raised muscle protein synthesis about 70% and cut breakdown about 57%. That's a short lab session, not months of real-world muscle. A meta-analysis of 7 trials in 287 adults aged 65+ found more muscle mass gain than control groups, a modest effect. In a 10-day bed rest trial, older adults on placebo lost about 2 kg of lean mass while the HMB group lost close to none, but physical function didn't differ. In trained athletes it's a different story. Six trials in 193 athletes found no effect on strength or body composition. A review of 15 clinical trials called the effects small, and no trial was rated low risk of bias across the board. Bottom line: a modest muscle-preservation signal in older or bed-bound adults, little for experienced lifters, and larger independent trials are still needed. Educational summary; not medical advice. *Mitoquinone mesylate is the mitochondria-targeted CoQ10 analog people treat like a better antioxidant.** CAS 845959-50-4. Also called MitoQ or mitoquinone. The idea is simple on paper: take the ubiquinone ring from coenzyme Q10 and staple it to a triphenylphosphonium (TPP) cation. The positive charge rides the mitochondrial membrane potential and pulls the molecule into the matrix. That is the targeting claim. It is a research tool for studying mitochondrial ROS and respiratory-chain chemistry, not a proven longevity supplement. **What the papers actually show** In cell and rodent work, MitoQ can lower certain markers of mitochondrial oxidative stress and, in some models, improve aspects of mitochondrial function. The human data is thinner. Small trials exist in areas like endothelial function and some clinical populations, but results are mixed and the numbers are small. It is not a settled “it works” file the way the marketing sometimes implies. **What it is not** Not ordinary CoQ10. The TPP tag changes distribution. Not a free radical sponge that just sits in the blood. Not proof that “mitochondrial antioxidant” equals better aging or better training adaptation. Some papers raise the usual questions about whether high local concentrations of a redox-active molecule can do other things besides the intended cleanup. Simple version: mitoquinone mesylate is a TPP-linked CoQ10 analog designed to accumulate in mitochondria. The chemistry is clear. The human outcome data is still early and mixed. Educational. Research-use only. Not a protocol. Not medical advice. For research and laboratory use only. Not for human consumption. Not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. #MitoQ #Mitoquinone #Mitochondria #CoQ10 #ResearchUseOnly #EvidenceBased

**JJC8-088 is a DAT inhibitor built to look nothing like cocaine.** CAS 1627576-82-2. It is a modafinil-derived analog from the Newman lab series. The design goal was a dopamine transporter blocker that still occupies the binding site but does not produce the same reinforcing spike cocaine does. In the published work it is described as an atypical DAT inhibitor — high affinity at the transporter, slower association kinetics, and a behavioral profile in rodents that looks less cocaine-like than classic blockers. That is the interesting part for a research tool. Most DAT ligands either dump dopamine or block reuptake in a way that tracks with abuse liability. JJC8-088 was part of an effort to keep the transporter interaction while changing the kinetic and behavioral signature. Whether that fully translates outside the models is still an open question, but the chemistry and the intent are documented. **What it is not** Not modafinil. Not a cocaine replacement. Not a finished drug. The human file is essentially empty. It is a research probe for studying DAT kinetics and atypical inhibition, not a ready-made nootropic or stimulant. Simple version: JJC8-088 is a modafinil-scaffold DAT inhibitor designed to be less cocaine-like in the assays that exist. The molecule is real. The clinical story is not. Educational. Research-use only. Not a protocol. Not medical advice. For research and laboratory use only. Not for human consumption. Not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. #JJC8088 #DAT #AtypicalInhibitor #ResearchUseOnly #EvidenceBased

**Morphodrol is a morpholine cousin of pipradrol that almost no one has real data on.** CAS 26581-79-3. Chemical name is 3-(diphenylhydroxymethyl)morpholine. It shares the diphenylmethanol motif you see in pipradrol and some older stimulant scaffolds, but the morpholine ring makes it a distinct molecule. That is the chemistry. Everything after that is thin. Pipradrol itself is an old norepinephrine-dopamine reuptake inhibitor that saw limited medical use decades ago. Morphodrol shows up in a few older SAR notes and in modern research-chemical catalogs as a related structure. There is no solid peer-reviewed work that maps its transporter selectivity, potency, or pharmacokinetics the way there is for modafinil, methylphenidate, or even some of the better-studied research analogs. Most of what circulates is structure analogy plus scattered anecdotal reports. That is not the same as a mechanism paper. **What that means for a research tool** It is a defined small molecule with a known CAS and structure. It is not a well-characterized DAT or NET tool. Anyone treating it like “pipradrol but milder” is running on assumption, not data. Identity and purity still matter, because a mislabeled or degraded lot of a poorly studied compound just adds noise. Simple version: Morphodrol is a morpholine-diphenylmethanol research chemical in the same broad neighborhood as older NDRI scaffolds. The published file is almost empty. Structure is not the same as a mechanism. Educational. Research-use only. Not a protocol. Not medical advice. For research and laboratory use only. Not for human consumption. Not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. #Morphodrol #Pipradrol #ResearchChem #ResearchUseOnly #EvidenceBased
