Ginkgoes have a unique, rich, natural history: from their origins during the age of dinosaurs to their spread throughout modern cities. Were they really saved by monks? If you want to stay in the loop with Darwin's Chronicles, consider following us on instagram.com/darwins_chroni…

For #FossilFriday meet the thylacocephala - a super cool group of swimming arthropods (potentially crustaceans), that were around from >400million years ago to just over 65. They have kinda weird anatomy, often with huge eyes, and chunky appendages at the front for catching prey.

Continuing on the theme of unwanted #brachiopod hitchhikers, here's Nisusia burgessensis hanging on for dear life to a bucking Wiwaxia corrugata. burgess-shale.rom.on.ca/en/f… #BurgessShale #Cambrian #BrachWeek2020
Brachs on the back for #BrachWeek2020. Seems #brachiopods had no scruples when it comes to growing on their poor (very distant) cousins the #hyoliths, among other animals. Figure from our 2017 paper on hyolith affinities. nature.com/articles/nature20… #fossil #Cambrian #BurgessShale
