🧵 Albumin in Critical Care: 70 Years, 700 Papers… Zero Benefit
1/

Decades of trials. Endless meta-analyses.
And yet – not a single clinically meaningful benefit.

Resident: “I’m so happy today is my last day of ICU ever”
Makes me sad that residents have lost interest in ICU. Learning physiology and learnimg to take care of critically ill patients will make you a better anesthesiologist

Similar to a prior 🧵regarding traumatic deaths in 'The Iliad':
Here I will examine the deaths in the movie 'Braveheart' to estimate how many of these might have been prevented if modern level 1 trauma centers and surgical care were available in Scotland at the time.

By age 35, every critical care clinician should have six PowerPoint presentations about basic clinical topics with no animations, a set of scrubs stolen from a minimum of three hospitals, and an iPhone video of a SonoSite screen showing cardiac tamponade.
