Disagree with me all you want, but the Baltics are truly the best place in the world to be born and to live. Love, love, love 🤍🇪🇪🇱🇻🇱🇹
23 August 1989, The Baltic Way. 🇱🇹🇱🇻🇪🇪 Around two million Lithuanians, Latvians and Estonians joined hands across more than 600 km, forming a human chain from Vilnius through Riga to Tallinn. No tanks. No weapons. Just millions of hands joined together with one message to the Soviet occupation regime: We are still here. We are nations. And we will be free. The Baltic Way became one of the most powerful peaceful demonstrations in history and less than two years later, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia had restored their independence. youtu.be/0KoKq20RUl0?is=tGzp…

Passport Bros: I wanted a traditional wife from a really poor country, western women are sooo entitled Passport Wife: Great! Welcome to a traditional extended family system. Auntie’s moving in for a while, so is my mother, your brother-in-law needs £4000 for his start up, I will NOT be working, you’re expected to contribute to your niece’s university fees, and everyone knows you got a bonus this year so our cousins want mountain bikes Passport Bros: …

As always, it's only the vocal minority in the comments telling everyone how confidently wrong they are.
Everyone in the world has to take a private vote by pressing a red or blue button. If more than 50% of people press the blue button, everyone survives. If less than 50% of people press the blue button, only people who pressed the red button survive. Which button would you press?

If only **one** human is involved for BigTech, that's ~$200k a year minimum, including employment taxes, etc. They would only ever target opportunities that can earn double that, or the juice ain't worth the squeeze. Anything requiring niche/local knowledge also too hard imho.
I said this I forgot to who but I said it BigTech will eventually come for all apps / startups / companies because they can fill the niches now that before could not because they were too small Those niches is where entrepeneurs hung out, nice parts of the market people could build a little SaaS with $100K/y to even $100M/y, notjing like the $100B/y revenue BigTech was doing, but worth it With AI now BigTech can fill those niches + they are the ones training and owning the best models, and keeping the best models for themselves they can outcompete anyone who doesn't own them (everyone except other BigTech) End game for their survival is simply trying to take every business, it's just capitalism This completely changes the prospect for entrepreneurs as there won't be much left, because BigTech is financially incentivized to have to take everything Because if they don't, their competitor will! xitter.cf/marmaduke091/status/20…

Tell me you're not a serious organisation without telling me
After almost twenty years on the platform, EFF is logging off of X. This isn’t a decision we made lightly, but it might be overdue. 🧵(1/5)

It seems that none of the team members were using hardware wallets, which is insane honestly. Anyone securing any wallet or part of any multi-sig under any and all circumstances should be using a hw wallet. The exception is a hot wallet with a hundred bucks or less in it.
ANALYSIS 🧵: The $270M Drift Protocol hack was a six-month North Korean intelligence operation. Attackers posed as a quant trading firm, met contributors in person at conferences across multiple countries, and deposited $1M of their own capital before executing the drain.

What's most bizarre is he is still the CEO after a long and costly demonstration of his inability to do the role. Inspirational, if nothing else!
Ford CEO Jim Farley, in a new interview, says he realized Ford had been doing EVs all wrong after his team ripped apart a Tesla: “When we ripped apart a Tesla, I was just absolutely flabbergasted. The Mach-E's wiring harness was 70 pounds heavier and 1.6 kilometers longer. We didn't know what was going on in [Tesla engineers' ] minds. But now we understand. They had no prejudice. We had prejudice. We'd gone to our supply-chain person and said, "Buy another wiring harness." [Tesla] said, "Let's design the vehicle for the lowest, smallest battery." Totally different approach.”

Who in the hell is convincing people to do this!? It's insane! See also the Osbornes.

Is anyone working on a JavaClaw implementation? Perhaps with less Telegram integrations and more Kafka integrations...
I don’t know what he’s going on about but if you want lightning fast, secure, scalable AI, check out Spring AI, virtual threads, and GraalVM

I love the internet
Me: seriously, for your own sake, just google, “the breakfast question,” so that you’re prepared if someone asks you Them: but no one’s asked me??

Mind if I ask @Scobleizer, at the companies you've worked for, has 360 feedback been a "thing"? Was it baked into annual performance stuff or optional? Do you value 360 feedback or any other performance improvement tools/techniques?

Please @nikitabier make it 1 or 2 clicks. Or a long press on a word in order to add/edit the 'muted words' list. This is the best feature of the platform imho.

Whatever @VitalikButerin has been doing the last couple of years, it's working, and I want some too.

I see seniors painstakingly reviewing every line of code - even frontend code. I see other devs with reasonable tests pushing straight to main. Neither group ships many bugs due to extensive non prod testing. One ships 10x the other. The gap is only widening.
unpopular opinion: junior devs who learned with ai will be better than seniors in 2 years they’re not afraid to throw away code the rest of us are too attached

.@levelsio what is the difference taking creatine at any random time during the day vs after a (big?) meal? Aiming for ~12g daily atm. Currently for practical reasons I'm either taking it late evening or early morning and wondering if that's suboptimal.

How did I ever get a degree
Replying to @bryan_johnson
A single night of 4–5 hrs sleep reduces cognition by 20–40%, drops glucose stability by 30–40%, increases accident risk by 400%, elevates inflammatory markers 50–100%, impairs memory consolidation by 40–60%. Most mental health problems are downstream this system level deregulation.
