In the next 24 hours Israel is most likely to kill or arrest the people on the Madleen Gaza flotilla. Just a reminder. Israel had no sovereignty over the territorial waters off the coast of Gaza (UNGA A/RES/77/247, UNSC 2334). Also according to Israel there is no occupation. They have no combatants on board or any weapons. Let’s see how this plays out.
Madleen Freedom Flotilla is getting closer to Gaza, the boat is currently around 400 km (250 miles) from Gaza’s shore.

124+ journalists were killed last year. The deadliest year for reporters on record. A free press is at the core of democracy. It is necessary to safeguard human rights. We must keep up the work to protect journalists from coercion and murder, and safeguard their critical work.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Out of the 124 journalists who were killed in 2024, it's reported from CPJ that 82 were killed at the hands of the Israeli military in Gaza and Lebanon amid the war. Killings of journalists also occurred in Sudan, Pakistan, Mexico, Syria, Myanmar, Iraq and Haiti. cbsnews.com/news/journalis… amp.cnn.com/cnn/world/2024…

Blinken lied to Congress and allowed starvation to be used as a weapon of war. It's well documented. He supported war crimes and blatantly lied to Congress about it.
Blinken probably should be in The Hague.

The New York Times effectively justifying the deliberate killing of 5 journalists might be a new low, because even at its worst, it has always claimed to stand in support of journalists around the world, even those whose perspective they disagree with. Utterly shameful:
The opening 3 paragraphs of the New York Times article about the killing of five journalists in Gaza could pass as an Israeli military press release. This is propaganda, not journalism.

STOP ENABLING MEDIA ILLITERACY STOP ENABLING MEDIA ILLITERACY STOP ENABLING MEDIA ILLITERACY STOP ENABLING MEDIA ILLITERACY This is what audio description tracks are for!! We already had a solution for when people can’t see the screen!!!
Netflix execs tell screenwriters to have characters “announce what they’re doing so that viewers who have a program on in the background can follow along” They also have thousands of micro-genres including “casual viewing” which is used for movies/TV that go down best when you’re not paying attention.
