Delighted my motion of no confidence in the standards commission passed-unanimously. Situation is now untenable and the body needs to be replaced ASAP to keep the public safe and let democracy thrive.

What an almighty shambles this is. The council’s response to pleas from Edinburgh’s festivals for a fair share of the visitor levy is kicking it down the road. Festival leaders who cleared diaries denied an opportunity to speak to politicians & officials. heraldscotland.com/news/2646…

The SNP will support the full £2m we campaigned for being passed on to our strategic cultural partners, including Edinburghs festivals. Further delay and paltry increases after ten years of stagnation is not acceptable. It’s time we get serious about supporting culture.
The countdown to the 80th anniversary of Edinburgh’s festivals is not exactly going to plan. Organisers have virtually declared war on the city council over its visitor levy spending plans. My latest exclusive for The Herald: heraldscotland.com/news/2645…

The SNP group on @Edinburgh_CC has accused Labour of "petty party politics" amid a row over £5m fire recovery fund. "The Council Leader, recently returning from holiday, has complained that it took too long to set up a meeting ... and that somehow this is all the fault of the big, bad SNP. @heraldscotland heraldscotland.com/news/2644…

What a tremendous honour to be included in this list of so many people who I deeply admire and have the privilege of working with. I am deeply flattered and walking around Edinburgh on a cloud! Thank you @heraldscotland.

There we have it - £1.24m worth of funding proposed because the SNP took action to restore Leith Customs House, safeguard the historic Tron Kirk and FINALLY rebuild the iconic Portobello Kilns. Secured via amendment authored and argued for by yours truly as SNP Culture Spox 🙂

"The King's Theatre is an iconic theatre in Edinburgh." That's why we have provided nearly £13 million to secure the building's future. Watch First Minister @JohnSwinney set out how we are supporting Scotland's creative communities.

Excitement BUILDING! Tonight the Old Lady finally opens her doors to her adoring Edinburgh public once again. Not often you get to see something through to completion. I’m proud of the role I played saving this historic gem when the future looked dangerously uncertain.

For years, the SNP's attack on Scottish Labour is that it has the B-team in Holyrood - they yearn for London and will take it at any opportunity. Anas Sarwar lives up to this cariacture and deeply damages his party Alex Massie vg on Sarwar's "ermine run" thetimes.com/uk/scotland/art…

The doors reopen August 1st and I couldn’t be prouder 🥲
In the last term, The SNP invested in the vital restoration of the Kings Theatre. A disastrous Tory mini-budget and Brexit later, the entire project could fail just as ground was being broken on the site. The Kings belongs to the cities residents and we have a plan to save it.

No library closures in Edinburgh? You have @EdinburghSNP councillors to thank. Delighted with this outcome of the (necessary) libraries review. A credit to the hard work of senior officers, trade unions and our excellent librarians who are lynchpins of communities. 📖
