Another August, another struggle with being (grossly) underpaid. August is so expensive anyway and it would have been real nice to not have to do this annual harassing of payroll.

This might help you understand why female junior surgeons like me didn’t report sexual harassment at work 👇
If you want to know why women don't report assaults, a footballer was kissed against her will in front of millions worldwide, the guy who did it didn't resign & gave a completely different version of events than those caught on camera & people are still debating what happened.

Time for the male Spanish team to refuse to play and FIFA (Not known for its ethics, but you never know) to take action. Condoning sexual assault (we all literally saw it happen) and then agressively persuing the victim like this is vile.

Notes: the Med Reg *kindly* agrees to take over patients care 😉
After listening to 1000s of patients, doctors & healthcare organisations in our consultation, we’ve published #GoodMedicalPractice2024. Get to know the updated professional standards for UK doctors, before they come into effect on 30 January 2024 orlo.uk/vMb9i

Paediatricians realised that Lucy Letby was on duty every time there was an “unexpected catastrophic event” that led to the deaths. Letby took out a grievance against the doctors. She won, and the consultants were forced to make a written apology to the murderer. 2/

So disheartening to see this from a consultant in the department I’m currently training in. Thankfully all our other consultants (those actively involved in acute care for our patients, unlike Dr Johnson) have been so supportive of our decision and right to strike.
Remarkable interview. Thankfully not the attitude of most junior doctors. Pleased that so many junior doctors in my dept are not striking today that my clinic has been able to be reinstated.

All the while such stupidity persists it has to countered. Toss a coin once and you won’t know if it’ll be heads or tails (weather: will it rain next week?) but after 1000 tosses you know half will be heads (climate: longer range average trend).
Matt goes to the heart of it. With current measurement technology and state-of-the-art computers it is still impossible to predict the weather more than a few days ahead. Yet these same people, with the same technology, think they can model long term climate change. They can't.

By becoming increasingly incapable of being a good employer, the NHS itself has made pay its own biggest issue, by making pay the *only* reward.

Corporate relocation agencies from 🇮🇪 Ireland delivering packages and letters DIRECT to consultant picket lines this morning…. (Don’t get me started on the term Southern Ireland) What a marketing opportunity! (But those houses prices 💯% aren’t Dublin) #ConsultantsStrike

I’m a paediatric intensive care consultant. I did not strike yesterday although fully support my colleagues. Instead I did my last ever night shift after 22 years in #NHS Sorry 🇬🇧 I’m leaving for 🇨🇦 next week. For me (and my children - the next gen) it was just too late 😔
I am a NHS consultant. I am financially comfortable, in a job I love, so why am I striking tomorrow? Answer: Because the next generation will not be able to live off what I do today. The juniors that will become these consultants know this and are leaving already. Why? 🧵 👇

People are making fun of this, but they have no idea what they are talking about I followed the same routine, and now: - My spiffwombles have reduced by 30x - Both eyes 9.7x more voluminous - Developmental age reduced by 35 years - I can no longer read or write (a world record)
Bryan Johnson spends $2 million a year to be 18 years old again. In 2021, he reduced his epigenetic age by 5.1 years in 7 months (a world record) His 13-steps for a long healthy life:
