Cliveden House burnt down in 1849. The architect behind Parliament rebuilt it in two years.
Now, Parliament has spent over a decade just planning its own repairs.
What happened to the country that built things? ๐

Whatever the result on Monday, Iโm so grateful for the kindness, dedication and hard work of all our amazing YCs over the last year.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you so much for supporting me and the organisation!

A powerful intervention from the head of the Army. Something is coming, and government needs to wake up.
He says the public will have to make sacrifices so we can prioritise defence and security.
This is no time for โnational security canโt come at the expense of social securityโ. Hard choices are coming whether ministers like it or not.
I have been clear where I would start: cut welfare spending and put the money into defence.

Iโm in Edinburgh and being asked a lot of questions about ITVโs Reform expose.
The reported comments show yet again why weโre not doing deals with Reform. We want Reform voters back, not Reform politicians.
Reform voters are being let down by the people who claim to represent them. Many of these people were the ones who let them down in the Conservative Party. We are now under new management.
These people caused a lot of problems and is why I say Nigel Farage has been doing my spring cleaning.
These problems will keep coming for Reform. Just as Farage is being investigated, so is Robert Jenrick, and so is Richard Tice. These problems will never end because of the kind of people they are - they donโt care about high standards of conduct.
That is why I am showing those voters who want to defeat Labour but left the Conservative Party that itโs time to come home. We are under new management, and you deserve better than this.

Your tweet is a lie.
100 Tory MPs voted.
100 voted to leave the ECHR
18 didn't vote. One of whom had a shared vote (Simon Hoare). Others had Committee obligations, constituency work and other commitments.
It is you who is misleading people.
Your account is an account of lies.
Neither did Jenrick, don't be ridiculous
16 Tory MP's didn't vote to leave the ECHR today:
Stuart Anderson
Mr Peter Bedford
Saqib Bhatti
Sir Geoffrey Clifton-Brown
John Cooper
Alberto Costa
Harriet Cross
David Davis
Sir Roger Gale
Ms Nusrat Ghani

Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Several listed MPs had no vote recorded, but two (Ghani, Nokes) are Deputy Speakers who cannot vote. Others including Hoare were paired. No Conservatives voted against the motion, which lost 309-113.

Saxon & I discussed #youthemployment, opportunities & jobs for younger generations
Warning: Distressing and graphic language
An undercover investigation by ITV Exposure into Nigel Farageโs Reform UK has found multiple elected councillors and party candidates expressing racist views and using offensive language.
ITV has obtained secretly recorded footage showing Reform officials from across England and Wales using violent, racist and sexist language.
Councillors Alan Feeney, Chris Whelan and Jamie Campbell did not reply to our request for comment. Councillors Feeney and Whelan have since resigned from Reform UK.
In a statement shared with ITV News, Reform UK said: "Where members, activists and councillors have clearly behaved inappropriately, investigations have commenced. In some cases, there have been suspensions and due process must be followed."
"Reform UK has improved and prioritised its vetting procedures, but from time to time, a handful of individuals who do not share our values will initially make it through vetting. This is the same for all organisations."
