I’m looking to introduce @WALKTHRUs_5 as part of the CPD offering at my school. How have CPD leads gone about introducing it? I have some ideas but keen to hear from others with more experience and expertise. @EdCPDChat #edcpdchat

#EdCPDChat A lack of prioritisation - too many things need to be worked on. Cognitive load for teaching staff, nothing gets done properly.

Yes. In our fast paced educational world it threatens personal reflection & ownership. Helpful questions: What can I learn from this? What do I need to take ownership of? Space to be curious, try & fail. Chance to feedback what did I learn from all experiences? #EdCPDChat

The best schools I have worked with have coaching & reflection at the heart of what they do in CPD. One partnership has been having training one week and then 1to1, individual and team reflection the following week. No reflection time = big barrier #EdCPDChat

Knoster's model of complex change has skills as one of the 5 key elements. So if you are planning development then giving focus to skill development is as key as the plan itself. #EdCPDChat

A smaller T&L group (that's open minded about the credentials that qualify you for that group) that can be used to build a core of more knowledgeable teachers. This is then the start of your facilitator pool

Q3. Provide a range of opportunities to get involved in T&L, sharing practice/discussion and present...this can be as a mentor, within dept, 15 minute forums, book club, bring and shares. Provide training on what makes effective CPD. #EdCPDChat

If the same people asked I think there is that risk - teams of people working together on key aspects for CPD delivery can help with this as then those with less experience delivery can start to shadow and deliver as their confidence grows. It’s about their growth too #EdCPDChat

#EdCPDChat Depends on the culture within the school, if there is an open door policy, willingness to learn from evidence or others.

Not just SLT by any means but they are, potentially, more likely to have the strategic overview of the whole school CPD approach rather than on a smaller level of assessment - our SLT work with SMT and our MLs to plan together how CPD for their subject may be delivered #EdCPDChat

#EdCPDChat Barriers: 1. Imposter syndrome 2. Lack of confidence 3. Lack of clarity of what a good one looks like 4. Lack of clarity of mental models of what good teaching is in a discipline

Potential risk of lethal mutation if aspects are delivered without a consistent and coherent approach #EdCPDChat

A2. Time for them to develop the CPD/be supported. If lots of different people deliver, it could be tricky to keep continuity and clarity. #EdCPDChat
