My Surface Laptop Ultra Review is LIVE: It's the closest thing yet to a MacBook Pro with Windows, but it's not without flaws.
windowscentral.com/hardware/…
I love the design. Yes, it looks like a MacBook Pro. But I think it makes some key design improvements in subtle ways. It has the best trackpad I have ever used thanks to its large size, accuracy, and new haptic engine system.
It also has incredible built in speakers which sound amazing, probably the best I've heard on a Windows laptop. There's also the new magnetic USB-C port, which is genius, and I hope it comes to more Windows laptops in the future.
But the new mini LED display is a bit of a let down. It's plenty bright, and very color accurate, but with just 1,344 dimming zones, there's an annoying ghosting effect that is very apparent when scrolling or moving light windows on dark backgrounds.
RTX Spark delivers pretty great performance for a chassis of this size and caliber. Battery life is just okay, though sleep endurance is great. Copilot+ PC features are missing at launch, and aren't expected to ship for a number of months yet, unbelievably.

Here's the full list: windowscentral.com/gaming/xb… 💿
Over 200 de-listed games are supported too, which is a huge win for game preservation and future-proofing in the digital era.
@jronald BIG shoutout to the team for this.

Still on the fence about a Pre-built PC?
@WindowsCentral's Cale Hunt @EcceCale was too, but we're changing his mind.
"These PCs are assembled by hand by people who clearly have a passion for this type of thing, and I don't think I've ever paid as much attention to cable management and RGB lighting as what's found in MAINGEAR's flagship."

While everyone is raising prices, ASUS is out here throwing around a 32GB laptop for $1,159.
Going by today's news, this will be $4,000 in 2027 🥲
ASUS Vivobook 16 OLED: 32GB RAM, 3K OLED, Intel Ultra 7, Wi‑Fi 7, Dolby Atmos, and 1TB storage .... for $1,159👀
Yo, you're not going to find a 32GB laptop for much cheaper than this, especially since everyone is raising prices today.

The real benefit over the last few years, up until AI ruined it all, was mass production of RAM, which reduced costs and made 16GB "standard" for PCs like all Snapdragon X/X2 ones.
But, as already mentioned, AI ruined all that, so now 8GB devices are back on the table. For Apple, it's due to Neo not being capable, currently, of running more than 8GB.
Anyway, @EcceCale put an 8GB and Windows 11 to the test, and the results will shock you (they won't, of course; this is only shocking if you last paid attention to Windows laptops 5 years ago). (2/2)

Lots of talk lately, especially with the new XPS 13’s reveal, about 8GB Of RAM not being enough for Windows 11.
Well, that’s not true. Here’s how my recent testing on an 8GB PC turned out.

Give this stick drift fix a try and let me know how it worked for you!
Stick drift ruining your Xbox sessions?
We checked out DriftGuard, a simple add‑on that claims to fix drift without opening your controller.
It is a smart idea, it is cheap, and it might save a lot of gamepads from the trash.
