U.S. Patent Application US20130194092A1, filed by Qualcomm, is titled “Unlocking a Body Area Network.”

The application describes a wireless Body Area Network capable of collecting medical information from sensors associated with a person and transmitting that data to another device.
The patent lists Body Sensor Units that can include EEG monitoring, hearing monitoring, vision monitoring, ECG, blood-pressure monitoring, glucose monitoring, toxin monitoring and implant modules. It also describes internal and external sensors communicating through technologies such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Near Field Communication.
What deserves closer examination is how closely some of the anatomical locations discussed in Body Area Network and bioelectronic research overlap with locations repeatedly documented during NLJD scanning.
The recently published GHOST study used the EDD-24XT nonlinear junction detector on 22 participants. Second-harmonic-dominant responses were detected in all 22 at baseline, and the locations were not randomly distributed across the body.
Repeated locations included the bilateral TMJ, glabella, nasal dorsum, cervical regions, shoulders, occipital region, scapular regions, spinal axis, hips, thighs and other defined anatomical areas. The researchers described a recurrent spatial pattern across participants.
A patented Body Area Network can involve EEG sensors, hearing systems, implant modules and wireless transmission of biological data.
A published human study has now documented recurrent semiconductor-type NLJD responses in specific anatomical regions across multiple participants.
The next step is direct chemical and structural characterization of those locations.
What is producing the second-harmonic responses?
Why do similar anatomical locations repeatedly appear across different people?
Could any of these detections involve engineered semiconductor or bioelectronic structures?
What happens when wireless medical technology moves beyond external wearables and deeper into the human body?
And where should informed consent end and biological privacy begin?
