We used GeoCities.eth to secure the GeoCities trademark. Rebranding as GeoCities turns decentralized social + tools into something mass-appealing.

we’ve started a process to look for a new home / team to run the products going forward.
earlier this year, this seemed to be a good fit for our team: it was a developer-first network, and we'd been serving developers from the start. There’s been a lot of change since then and we’re not the right fit for what’s needed next.
talking to a few teams we think could be a good fit for running decentralized social apps and related developer products. If you’ve thoughts / are interested, reach out.
our company will return its balance sheet (most of it remains) and team members will move on to something new.
this is not a decision we made lightly. I’m optimistic that with this next iteration, Farcaster will find its long term fit.

According to @LefterisJP there are known & maybe intentionally never fixed “bugs” that enable taking of ENS names.
Imagine a scenario where Nick/Labs/ENS Foundation are served with a court order telling them to turn over names. If they can do that by vote, what will they do?
there are unfixed bugs which allow the DAO to steal your name. But they were not fixed since the DAO is trustworthy ... or well was 2 years ago :)

I can't believe ENS, of all things, has turned into another heist and grift. Is nothing sacred? The reasons given--DAOs are dysfunctional, etc.--are all true in general but pretty much irrelevant in this case as DAO simply controls treasury and has funded Labs with whatever it wants. It's just purely a money grab and after this, there will be zero accountability of the team to anyone as that is how lawyers set up these ridiculous "foundations". As I always warned, the "constitutions" sound good but are unenforceable as they don't give any tokenholders or anyone else any right to sue if they are arguably violated. The crypto "space" or "industry" is completely lost and it's really so depressing.

I would move to an ENS fork, if the fork:
- claims legitimacy over the .eth domain
- copies over the existing .eth data & functionality
- fixes bugs, removes ownership & upgrade ability
- registrations are covered by locking up ETH
- Doesn't include an erc20 gov token
