The #COP29 Presidency, together with the State Oil Fund of the Republic of Azerbaijan (@SOFAZOfficial) and the International Forum of Sovereign Wealth Funds (@IFSWF) today came together to explore the potential of sovereign wealth funds (SWFs) in financing the global energy transition, particularly in developing markets. The panel particularly focused on innovative financing instruments and governance mechanisms that can help mobilise capital into climate-positive projects.

The fossil fuels lobby must be strong in the UK. While gas is a valuable lower-carbon alternative for coal-reliant countries, an already lower-carbon energy mix should be investing in upgrading to smart grids & battery storage to keep the lights on.
