Cows can't understand bond markets - humans can't remember as much as computers. Ergo - humans will be the cows of the future. Incredible how a facile argument can seem compelling if you get a baldie with glasses to spout it
Saw this a few days ago and it’s put a worm in my brain. Can’t stop thinking about it.

Nothing really special about appreciating how good David Byrne is but I have this song on a loop these days. Staggeringly good. That it was made 30 years into his career...youtube.com/watch?v=-L7IdUqa…

"sleep training" a newborn means letting a defenseless baby scream for its mother in the dark until it's either exhausted or has given up on life. the attachment literature is clear that before 6 months, a baby crying with nobody coming learns exactly one thing, that calling for help doesn't work and you even have parents bragging about how they tortured their kid into an 8h sleep you need to attend to every need of your child. they don't have a prefrontal cortex able to understand what's happening. if you love them and care for them, they'll barely cry, and when they do there's a clear reason you can address right away

You used to have your bet ideas in the shower, now you have a waterproof speaker. You used to get lost in thought waiting for the train, now you have a phone to fill the gap. You used to daydream on long flights, now there's a screen in your hand and on the seat in front of you. You used to think on your morning commute, now you have a podcast playing before you leave the house. We used to stare in to the sky or into a fire and let our minds drift, now we have TVs and phone to replace that. We filled every silence and lost all of our peace, creativity and ideas that lived within that silence.

To be clear - I contend that this was deliberate obfuscation on the part of Ireland's health care system to hide the dangers of mRNA covid vaccines for children. They actively hid the truth from parents because they knew it would disincline them from putting their kids forward.
In light of the FDA announcing Covid vaccines killed at least 10 children via myocarditis it's worth remembering the HSE once admitted the risk of myocarditis in young boys (1 in 16k) was higher than the risk to them of covid (1 in 100k) Of course they still recommended the shots

This sums up everything my twitter is about. 1 Non-gym performance KPI - being able to sprint for the bus when I'm 80. This tells me my whole body is working effectively, unconstrained by muscular, tendon, nerve or structural limitations. 2 Lifestyle KPI - being able to get up every day having the choice to decide what I want to do. The greater part of this is being able say no to anything I don't want to do. 3 'Mental health' KPI - enjoying the company of the people I love. Deep appreciation of nature & beauty. 4 Deep satisfaction KPI - my family and friends having fulfilling lives and success, free from disability and pain (physical and psychological). Not in my control, but I will help as much as I can.
- Quit your job - Resistance train - Sprint - Increase your VO2max - Stay lean like a wild animal - Create money - Visit places you never been to before - Brainwash your kids about opportunity, health & nature

Whatever anyone’s views on this family and the beliefs they represent, I admire the moral courage to stand up despite the jeers of fellow students and police intimidation. Good for him.
Elijah Burke has more balls than the vast majority of men in this country. Here he is challenging Catherine Connelly on free speech in reference to his brother Enoch only to be escorted out by Gardai. **note the jeering and mocking from his fellow UCG students**

This is extraordinary. She’s saying she’s not prejudiced whilst explaining a prejudiced decision she made due to a prejudice she has about the beliefs of voters.
NEW: Kamala Harris says she couldn’t pick Pete Buttigieg as her running mate because he is gay and there was only 107 days. Maddow: To say that he couldn't be on the ticket effectively because he was gay, it's hard to hear. Harris: No no no that's not what I said… with the stakes being so high, it made me very sad, but I also realized it would be a real risk. She denied the accusation then admitted it was true?

At the airport recently. Default now seems to be to put kids in headphones and in front of tablets. A real pity as few places like planes and airports to ignite kids excitement and curiosity.

Obviously a small awfulness compared to the horror of the murder itself but hearing how Ryan Casey's final days with Aisling were ruined by stupid Covid restrictions is heart-breaking. "Why didn’t I just say feck the restrictions" He has good instincts.

I've been closely observing the frail elderly for the past few weeks - here's what I found. 1 'Frailness' is largely a lower-body problem. What I mean by this is frail legs have a larger negative impact on navigating the physical landscape than a frail upper-body
Mick Jagger at 78 is younger than most dudes at 35.

I can pinpoint the exact moment I discovered the music of Brian Wilson. It was this scene from the Wonder Years. The song hit me so hard I had to run to find my dad to ask who it was. RIP youtu.be/C-btZ2KMNo0?si=siWb…

I'm listening to @JuliaJacklin on a loop this last month. She's phenomenal. Tried getting my brother into her music but no luck yet. If this song doesn't do it, there's no hope for him. youtube.com/watch?v=ktvJ2PiB…

Brilliant letter in IMT from a doctor in response to the most extraordinary article where the writer reminisces fondly about his father force vaccinating children at the side of a road. imt.ie/opinion/letters/lette…

I’m enjoying one day on Netflix but find the frequent use of ‘rock up’ a bit jarring. Don’t remember anyone ever using that in the 90s.

Beck - Odelay (1996) An ingenious fusion of country, blues, rap and oddball sampledelia, delivered with deadpan cool. Tongue-in-cheek, eclectic and full of personality; a genre unto itself. Showing a post-Cobain America how to lighten up again; and making it look effortless 🧵
