People say that they are disappointed that they dont own a house at this age but I definitely thought I'd have an NTS show by now.
(a house would be cool too, I'm sure).

Talking Heads - “Once In A Lifetime”
Brian Eno borrows Fela Kuti's and Tony Allen's rhythmic genius for Talking Heads’ most enigmatic Song.
When I first heard the Talking Heads classic “Once In A Lifetime” (1981), I immediately knew that it would have a profound effect on me musically (and culturally). Although at that time I’d only had some minimal familiarity with African multiple rhythmic styles, I hadn’t yet gotten into Fela Kuti, the towering Nigerian figure and creator of Afrobeat. So hearing “Once In A Lifetime” was like being smacked with five walls of rhythm, all at once.
Also, “Once In A Lifetime” is one of those examples of when musical borders collide beautifully.

Consistency has no value, and now even those willing to compromise and pivot to content farm, what's actually being achieved on that quest for "success" or growth, when you have the data available these platforms don't even show that content to the audience you already have?

I miss monoculture this shit sucks. The good thing about mono culture was it still allowed for sub-cultures, but it also gave us at least one major platform to relate to eachother. Now nobody got SHIT in common with eachother

Gone are the days where "everyone knows" a popular recording artist or hit TV show or rising film star or best-selling book. This isn't because music, TV, film, and novels suddenly turned to shit. It's because the modern version of our internet killed monoculture. The end.

The whole point of art, in fact the point of engaging with another person's thoughts in any capacity, is to expand your very limited individual perspective on the world, not to live in a tiny box perfectly catered to your adolescent personal tastes

Being passionate about music, art, culture as both a creator and a consumer feels so so so bad in the present at the digital layer. unfathomably traumatic like Groundhog Day feeling the same pain as a breakup or losing family. If you can’t relate I envy you. <x3

one of the many dark sides of A.I. – those sample detection bots are a menace to so much of the music i love most.
samples were already one of the toughest minefield to navigate, automating the detection & reporting now is one of the worst things that could happen to music
4 beat tapes of mine were removed from @DistroKid due to lack of evidence of sample clearance( 4 beats) , instead of removing the individual track that was "marked" the entire record/tape is removed. I'll be re-uploading them asap, without the "marked" beats.

There's about a week left on the playback of 'A Circular History of the Loop', if anyone who missed fancies checking it out.
It's an immersive / ambisonic Radio 3 programme, featuring myself and a lot of other musicians spanning many fields and genres.

Multi‑platinum producer, multi-instrumentalist, and sample pack maker Kaelin Ellis (Vince Staples, Kaytranada, TOKiMONSTA, and more) takes on the My Forever Studio challenge. This time, hear how NBA Street helped lead him to jazz and producer credits, how he develops “pocket”in his drumming, and how an upright piano he found backstage at a show made for one of his most vibey sample packs.
As always, expect in-depth gear chat, and difficult decisions, studio stories and at least one obnoxious airhorn. musictech.com/shows/podcasts…
Reminder that when you buy music, you’re not at the mercy of the platform removing it whenever they want
Slum Village’s Fantastic Vol. 2 has been completely removed from @Spotify.
Because apparently we can’t have nice things?!
