🆕Big update today!🆕 Brand new dynamic terrain system with on the fly auto-tiling/transitions. Below shows new tiles & flying movement progress! Slight map re-design puts more emphasis on accessing higher ground (with non-flyers). #gamedev #RPG #pcgamer #screenshotsaturday

All the while, the terrain will appropriately apply the correct tiles, adding proper edges/transitions. Video shows 3 Fire damage being applied manually to each selected tile. In-game the attacks would show visual effects, like fire/smoke etc. Yes bushes and fences explode.

Downside? Maps need to be rebuilt.😭 The up-side is that I can keep the scenario data the same and just swap in the new map! Note: Draw calls are much higher now due to new map tiles being on multiple different textures, once combined, it should drop 75% or so.

So I found out yesterday that part of the ceiling in a room I don't go in that often collapsed, leaving a nice mess.😭 I assume it happened during Helene, but I never heard anything and our area didn't get hit too bad. Development is on hold for a bit while I deal with this. 1/2

Nobody was hurt obviously and the damage is minimal, but still pretty shocking, haha. Development should resume fairly quickly. There haven't been as many updates lately, but I've been making progress all the same. Anyway, just wanted to give everyone a heads up! Thanks!🥰 2/2

The various statistic gathering methods are already built into the game however I am taking in a bit more data here. Unit data for a Scribe (left) & Soldier (right) shows that the Scribe heals at a ratio of 10:1 compared to attacks. Equipped abilities have their usage counted.

Been getting some great data from the battle simulator. We can see an overhead of the battle including real-time unit location and direction. The gif shows a full 5v5 battle with teams of 3 Soldiers (Attack+Strike) & 2 Scribes(Attack+Heal). #screenshotsaturday #gamedev #games

I've been busy fixing the tileset problem, which is something I really let get out of hand. I also managed to shrink it down a bit. Edges are now added using bitmasks! Left is Tiled Map Editor, right is how it looks in-game! #screenshotsaturday #RPG #indiegame #gamedev

There's a small preview of some new tiles in the pictures above. I re-did the buildings and added more roof-accessible walking spaces, like that space over the window. (still a WIP) I also have some other walkable tiles that will allow me to build more vertical scenes.

Some details I wanted to address include keeping the windows consistent for the building & giving the wood some better texture & depth. I'll be working with a pixel artist soon to fix up/create better tiles & start working on new biomes! More updates to come!

Long day cleaning and refactoring the code base. Finally have a nice clean 'core source' FULLY isolated from all unit tests, editors & misc. code. Tinkering with a LOW HP flashing indicator. However it wont play nice with things like invisible/berserk etc. #gamedevelopment
