Genuinely interested in playing magic again, and have actually zero clue how to even begin to engage with it. What formats am I supposed to care about? What events am I supposed to look for? Do I have to play digitally?

Riftbound is a good game, but I moved and there is wildly less of it here. Would expect to play it some, but will likely scale back on it.

Not a fan of this cards templating. Play card, show opp hidden card in hand, shuffle hand to conceal info, hide a card. Just template it as you may hide a card this turn for free, or show off a hidden card for a floating power.

If you take a hardline stance, that’s defensible. Often spending your mental effort on playing better will serve you better than looking for opportunities to shark. Mental energy isn’t infinite, and the rate of return on sharking is really poor.

In the tournament in LA i played a sabotage against a tapped out opponent, who responded by saying oops, i conquered targon's peak last turn, can i untap 2 runes? I let him do it and he defied my sabotage. I won anyway No one is forcing you to shark, you can just be nice instead.

I find the games to get a little silly when pure card selection tools are at a good enough rate that fair decks play them.

Since you can float power in RB, isn't the whole "shuffling your runes before putting them on bottom" not actually how the game works? If I wanted to, I could just pre-float my runes in whatever order I wanted them to go on bottom, and then they're being recycled one at a time?

I am way too old to care about getting an edge that would take 3 PhDs to measure as being different than noise. I just loath trying to randomize 2-3 cards when no one cares.

I wish we could avoid situations like PG Yi and best-of prizing. Best of prizing does a great job at spreading out the playrate to decks other than the best thing, but it feels really gross when there's a deck thats been soft-rotated, without being actually rotated.
