People who hate on Elon are literally just monkey-brained mids who perceive unapologetic competence and intelligence as a threat to their status, activating their amygdala and threat response system.

What makes socialism unrealistic is that it gets economics almost perfectly backwards. It treats consumption as the priority, production as an afterthought, and wealth as something to redistribute rather than create.
Capitalism, meanwhile, has demonstrated its productive capacity throughout history.
The irony is that socialism depends so heavily on the wealth generated by capitalism that, even by socialists' own arguments for taxing and redistributing capitalist earnings, capitalism is what makes their preferred policies financially possible.
An ideology that condemns the very process it depends upon should reconsider its premises.

The world is not zero-sum, capitalism is the ultimate technology for alignment and facilitating positive sum games.
The reason leftism persists is because banning financial capitalism for strict social capitalism is how manipulators ensure all there is centrally assigned social capital/status, which is zero sum.
This overconcetrates power and this gives them the opportunity to top-down control everyone, which is really what they're after.

okay one thing I can say with confidence is truly nobody thought the guy who owned the 140 character company would also be the guy that built the flying cars

People who romanticize raw nature almost never want to actually live in it, and for very good reason.
They imagine Mother Nature as some gentle, nurturing paradise rather than the chaotic, indifferent, and often deadly environment humanity spent millennia struggling to survive.
Disease, parasites, predators, starvation, exposure, and natural disasters are all perfectly natural.
The irony is that the comfort, health, safety, and leisure that allow people to romanticize wilderness are largely products of the very technological progress they're dismissing.
Nature doesn't love you. It doesn't even know you exist. Civilization is what made enjoying nature relatively safe.
I don't want flying cars.
I want rivers and ocean I can swim in with friends.
I want food that isn't full of toxic chemicals and clean soil to grow it in.
I want raw nature and wilderness and places on the earth I can get lost without seeing another human.
I want air that isn't "geoengineered" and polluted.
Science is cool. Technological advancement is cool, but I don't think this makes us happier as humans.
Real human connection and clean, natural food lead to happiness. This I know. Flying cars? I'm not sure.
Maybe I am a troglodyte...
The purpose of the system is what it does.
Marc Andreessen on why he thinks Europe actually wants to be left behind on AI
"Europe seems, I just take them at their word, determined to be left behind. They seem enthusiastic about being left behind. They seem to really badly want that"
"25 years ago, if you did a list of the 50 biggest tech companies in the world, a pretty significant number were European, probably 15 of the top 50. Today you're basically down to Spotify. Which is great. I love Spotify"
"I think they would be very happy if AI didn't happen inside the EU. I think they'd be very happy if social media didn't exist. I think they'd be quite happy to shut up the internet"
