This is huge! Very significant. Not only the additional arrest warrants which are significant but also the analysis of persecution on the grounds of gender and its application to the policies and practices of the Taliban.

We, the Afghan Women Activists Coordinating Body, have sent an urgent letter to HE President @RTErdogan, @MFATurkiye & @TC_icisleri.
Afghan women in Turkey are facing extreme hardship—no legal status, no healthcare, no education for our daughters, and no right to work. Many live in fear, vulnerable to abuse.
We urge Turkey to help us , to extend visas, grant work permits, allow UNHCR registration & ensure access to healthcare. Justice & humanity must prevail!

Our open letter urgently calls on #Pakistan to withdraw policies forcing Afghan medical students back to #Afghanistan and denying recognition of Afghan degrees. For female students, return means the end of education—and possible persecution under the Taliban. Education is their only hope. Act now.

Afghan girls are forbidden from attending school, but they are left to beg and work on the streets, where they face abuse, exploitation and addiction.
According to a field report by Hasht-e Subh, the number of street-working children in Herat is increasing as poverty, unemployment and economic hardship force families to send their children into the streets simply to find enough food to survive.
Some of these children reportedly suffer abuse or become addicted to drugs. Others have developed a dangerous addiction to motorcycle fuel, secretly draining it from parked motorcycles and consuming it. The report describes the case of a 12-year-old child whose behaviour and physical condition visibly reflect the devastating effects of addiction.
This is the reality of childhood under Taliban rule: girls are denied education in the name of morality, religion and “protection,” yet they are not protected from hunger, begging, exploitation, violence or addiction on the streets.
A girl may be prevented from entering a classroom, but no one prevents her from spending her childhood begging for a piece of bread.
This is not protection. It is the systematic destruction of an entire generation.
The international community must stop normalizing Taliban rule while Afghan children are being deprived of their education, dignity, health and future.

AWACB Statement:
Immediate Release of Two Young Women and Independent Investigation into the Mutilation and Desecration of Bodies.
Today, AWACB received deeply disturbing testimony from one of our members, a close relative of three men reportedly killed by Taliban forces.
After enormous difficulties, the family was finally able to recover the three bodies. According to the family, the bodies had been severely mutilated and desecrated: their faces had been burned or otherwise destroyed, parts of their bodies had been broken, and videos showing this degrading treatment were recorded and circulated publicly.
The family was not permitted to bury their relatives in accordance with Islamic rites. They were reportedly forced to place the bodies in the ground without funeral prayers, a proper burial ceremony or the opportunity to mourn with dignity. Taliban members also reportedly beat people who attempted to attend the funeral and mourning ceremony.
While the women of the family were crying and mourning, Taliban members reportedly seized two young sisters of the deceased commander and took them away. Men who protested and called for the release of the two women were also reportedly arrested. Their whereabouts, physical condition and legal status remain unknown.
The mutilation and desecration of bodies are prohibited under international humanitarian law. Arbitrary detention and enforced disappearance violate fundamental human rights. Women must never be abducted, detained or punished because of the identity or actions of their male relatives.
AWACB demands the immediate and safe release of the two sisters and all men detained for calling for their release. The Taliban must immediately disclose their location and condition.
We urgently call upon:
@UNAMAnews
@SR_Afghanistan
@UNHumanRights and @volker_turk
@ICRC
@IntlCrimCourt
@UN and the international community
to intervene urgently, establish the whereabouts and safety of all those detained, protect the surviving family members and witnesses, preserve all available evidence and ensure an independent and impartial investigation.
The dead are entitled to dignity. Their families have the right to mourn and bury their loved ones according to their faith. No one should be beaten, threatened or arrested for attending a funeral or peacefully demanding the release of detained family members.
For the family’s safety, AWACB is withholding all identifying information.
Our full statement, including the reported facts, legal grounds and urgent demands, is attached to this post.

What Is the Afghan Women’s Courage Medal?
The Afghan Women’s Courage Medal is an initiative of the European Organisation for Integration e.V., based in Berlin, Germany. It was established to recognize individuals whose courage, commitment and actions have made a real and meaningful difference in the lives of Afghan women and girls.
The medal is being awarded for the first time this year. In its inaugural year, 32 individuals are being recognized: 25 members of the Afghan Women Activists Coordinating Body and seven activists from other organizations, groups or independent initiatives. Each recipient has contributed in a meaningful way to improving, protecting or supporting the lives and work of Afghan women activists, whether inside Afghanistan or in exile.
The medal is not intended simply to recognize prominent names, official positions or public visibility. Its central criteria are courage and tangible impact. It recognizes people who have stood beside Afghan women in difficult and dangerous circumstances; defended women’s and girls’ right to education; supported women activists, journalists and human rights defenders; provided humanitarian assistance; helped women at risk reach safer places; amplified Afghan women’s voices internationally; or contributed in other meaningful ways to their freedom, security, dignity and future.
From next year onwards, the European Organisation for Integration e.V. will award the Afghan Women’s Courage Medal once every year. An open call will be announced, allowing individuals to submit their own achievements for consideration. Organizations, groups and other individuals will also be able to nominate candidates whose work they believe deserves recognition.
Applicants and nominees will be asked to provide information about their activities, achievements and, most importantly, the concrete difference their work has made in the lives of Afghan women and girls. The selection will consider courage, commitment, continuity of engagement and demonstrated impact, particularly in supporting Afghan women living under and resisting the Taliban’s gender apartheid.
Although the medal will primarily recognize women—because Afghan women themselves remain at the forefront of the struggle for their rights and freedoms—it is not exclusively for women. Men who have demonstrated exceptional courage, stood alongside Afghan women, defended their rights and made a substantial positive difference in their lives may also receive the medal.
Membership in any particular organization is not a requirement. Women’s rights defenders, civil society activists, journalists, educators, humanitarian workers, human rights defenders, researchers and other individuals may be considered if their actions demonstrate genuine courage and meaningful impact.
The Afghan Women’s Courage Medal is therefore not an award for titles or positions. It is a recognition of courage, action, solidarity and measurable change in the lives of Afghan women.
Courage deserves to be seen. Resistance must not be forgotten. And those who stand beside Afghan women in their struggle for freedom and dignity deserve recognition.

Each of these women represents a different story of courage, leadership, service and resistance. Some continue their work inside Afghanistan despite immense personal risk. Others continue the struggle from Iran, Pakistan, Iraq, Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Canada, the United States and elsewhere.
What connects them is stronger than geography: the determination that Afghan women will not be silenced, erased or forgotten.
This medal is our recognition of both the visible and the often unseen work these women have undertaken for their sisters, their communities and the future generations of Afghan women and girls.
Your work matters. Your resistance matters. Your voice matters.
Your courage keeps the hope of Afghanistan’s women alive.

#BerlinStehtZusammen
#SolidaritätMitDerQueerenCommunity
#GegenHassUndExtremismus
A 60-year-old man marrying a 17-year-old girl is not a love story. It is a disturbing example of inequality, exploitation and the abuse of power and money.
The powerful public response on social media has shown that collective voices can create real pressure and hold perpetrators accountable. That means our voices are being heard. Great job to everyone who refused to remain silent.
We must continue to expose, discuss and condemn such cases. Silence protects those who exploit vulnerable girls; public attention protects the girls and warns others that these actions will not be accepted or normalised.
A girl is not a commodity. Marriage must never be forced, purchased or imposed through family pressure, fear, poverty or unequal power. Every Afghan girl deserves education, freedom, dignity and the right to decide her own future.
Speak up. Stand together. Make this a lesson to everyone who believes girls can be treated as property.
