Restoration sites reporting 100% mortality. Time's up for corals in the Keys. If not now, very soon.
From now until fall - week after week - there will be obituaries written for corals living on the reefs of the Florida Keys. The idea that by doing various restoration projects to give us hope has been diminished. The idea of buying time for the future has disappeared. 🪸on🪸

Two papers accepted on the same day! I'd heard of such phenomenon but never thought it'd happen to me! Happy Friday to all!

Truth.
if you're a young person, ask a middle-aged man what music they listened to in the 90s. let them talk for 30 mins. act interested and say "oh wow no way that's so cool." after that you can ask them for any favor

Yes, this. I think this is close to why this whole thing is so infuriating to many scientists, they've got the burden of proof backwards! If you want to claim vaccines don't work, you need to provide evidence, not bully your interlocutor into doing it for you. xitter.cf/SeamusBlackley/status/…

DeSantis vetoes $100 million earmarked to preserve farms, ranches, and wild lands. He doesn’t veto the ban on local water pollution control rules (toxic algae bloom prevention.) Can all now finally lay to rest the “He cares about the environment” myth?

This is one of the most interesting free school lunch papers - when districts implement universal free school lunch, it puts competitive pressure on grocery stores, resulting in lower food prices for *everyone* even if they don't directly benefit from school lunches
When schools offer free meals for everyone, local families reduce grocery spending. Large chains respond by dropping prices, amplifying benefits to the broader community, from @jessiehandbury and Sarah Moshary nber.org/papers/w29384
