I don’t care what anyone says, the blind subclavian central line is a very powerful one—especially in trauma. It’s becoming a lost art in the era of ultrasound, be we should never let it die.

Unpopular opinion ... I love inserting an NG in intubated patients. The great @SteveBree2 taught me the 'split tube' technique - I try to teach this to all trainees - it really is a game-changer ... #MedTwitter #Anaesthesia #FOAMed

Years ago I was interviewed by a paper in relation to emergency tax and NCHDs. HR emailed my consultant to complain. Consultant took me aside to say I shouldn't have made the hospital look bad. Not a single thing done to address the issue. #StandUp4NCHDs

ER nurse last night on the unvaccinated: "We risked our butts seeing COVID for over a year because there wasn't a vaccine. Now that there is, it feels like they want us to keep exposing ourselves to COVID so they can go about their lives. And that wasn't the deal I agreed to."

If we aspire to ambitious goals for improvement, we have to view our improvement work as a daily experiment, testing & learning all the time. We also need be outward looking, being out there on the edge of knowledge, learning from & with others. Great graphic from @OzolinsJanis

Most hospitals still blame NCHDs for Emergency Tax woes, but adding your new employer and moving your tax credits with Revenue is of no use of your new employer doesn't bother to download and apply your updated tax credit certificate. Some hospitals on the ball but most are not.
This is so relevant again this morning. First payday from my new job and hospital, emergency taxed to the hilt despite tax credits being sorted from my side. Paid a THIRD of what I was due. A stressful 2 weeks ahead as I live off essentially nothing after rent and loans are paid.
