Makes you wonder, aside from cost, which granted is not a trivial issue, whether there are any legitimate arguments for not using a videolaryngoscope routinely when a rigid laryngoscope is indicated for intubation
VL vs DL & SKILL FADE. A thread Was pondering skill decay VL & DL I don’t think we have any evidence one way or the other It may occur If so does this this matter? A few thoughts @VirtueOfNothing @Fionafionakel @NicholasChrimes 1/n

While FPS is associated with a reduction in peri-intubation complications, achieving FPS does not preclude the occurrence of complications

All set for our annual Airway Journal Club for the residents, which would be not be complete without a laryngoscope piñata. Finally found a use for the direct laryngoscope! @pacheco_garrett

Prevention of unrecognized esophageal intubation in the ED requires a 2 pronged approach: 1. Routine use of VL to reduce the occurrence of esophageal intubation 2. Routine use of capnography to rapidly identify esophageal intubation

I woke up today wondering what was being argued on #AirwayTwitter today, but then I realized I had a root canal scheduled for this morning, and I was elated with my good fortune 😉

If you take a Mac VL with you, you are not in fact crossing the Rubicon

Thinking a lot about the asphyxia case I posted yesterday. Genuine question for all you #EMS folks - in 2023, should an unrecognized esophageal intubation resulting in patient death lead to criminal charges, specifically first degree murder? Ping @NAEMSP @NAEMT_ Please RT

I think a good definition of an intubation attempt is the insertion of an instrument into the upper airway with the intent of placing a tube in the trachea
Why is taking a look always similar to attempt? I use VL of flex scope sometimes to “spy 👀 around the corner” before I continu with or adapt my airway strategy to the context and situation. This definition is up for discussion. Please define first intubation attempt more clearly

So an awake look to assess the airway would not count as an attempt
