Here's a stupid paradox: rape was historically punished more harshly in the West when it was seen as a property rights offense against a husband or father than it has now become when it is seen as personal violence against women, wasn't it? On what planet does THAT make sense?

This is getting very silly. Perhaps HMRC might want to focus on collecting taxes instead of spouting legally incoherent bullshit about deeply contested identity concepts rejected multiple times by the courts. We are paying for this crap.
Part of the new @HMRCgovuk guidance: "Supporting trans and non-binary colleagues." It's despicable & ridiculous that our Civil Service is taking such arrant nonsense seriously. If we can't back out of this, the Protected Characteristic of Gender Reassignment must be removed from the Equality Act.

Wrong. Feminism is a movement by women, for women. Never, ever trust any man who calls himself a feminist. They are invariably the worst misogynists you can find. Good men can be feminist allies if they want to be. That is not the definition of feminism, either. Feminism is a philosophy that seeks to liberate women from male oppression. It isn't about 'everybody's' rights. It's about women's rights.
𝘼𝙣𝙮𝙤𝙣𝙚 can be a feminist. No matter your reason for being or becoming a feminist, the goal is the same: pushing societies towards equality #ForAllWomenAndGirls. Have a look at our simple guide to the often-misunderstood topic of #feminism. 🔗 unwomen.org/en/articles/expl…

It is true that having children is NOT the be all and end all of any woman’s life. We are not baby making machines, we are not better or worse people because we did or did not have children. It remains true that only women can bear children. That does not make it our life’s mission. Any adult woman with capacity who wants to be sterilised has a right to make that choice.
It’s a permanent and life altering decision. These are huge ethical questions which cannot be neatly resolved in the way you suggest (“she’s an adult”) It’s also not true that “having children is not the be all and end all of any woman’s life”.

My ‘baby’ turned 21 this week. Born 11 weeks early, weighing just a few pounds. I still remember the paediatrician coming to see us after I went into early labour at 28 weeks. He gave us a long list of things that could go wrong in neonatal intensive care. Worst case: she might not come home at all. This is the first time I held her - a few days after she was born. A rare few moments without the ventilator. Afterwards, she would need help to breathe for many weeks to come. Although I look happy here, my heart was broken. And I was full of fear. Any mother would be. Infertility, ectopic pregnancy and baby loss were part of my story too - along with premature birth and everything that followed. No exam result or professional achievement will ever rival this moment - bittersweet as it was. Which is why I refuse to be erased - or to see other women erased - from the language we use to describe what our bodies are made to do. Not every woman wants to have a baby. Not every woman is able to. But women should not have to disappear from the language of pregnancy, birth and our own bodies in order for others to feel included. Which is why I say no to “birthing people”, “menstruators”, “cervix havers” and every other reductive term for women. There is nothing inclusive about making women disappear.

That wording genuinely disgusts me. “The safest way possible for all”? John isn’t a danger to anyone. My son has Tourette’s and has vocal tics that can be extremely offensive. Is he somehow a danger to people because a neurological misfire causes him to involuntarily say words that make them uncomfortable? I’ve said it before. Tourette’s is the ultimate test of inclusion. It’s easy to preach acceptance when a disability is comfortable and convenient. The moment Tourette’s does what Tourette’s actually does, far too many people suddenly decide the person with the disability is the problem. John shouldn’t be treated as a safety risk because of an involuntary vocal tic.
This outcome only makes sense if you are the type of person who believes you are ‘unsafe’ when exposed to people’s words; in this instance symptomatic of a well known medical condition. What has happened seems to be that the person with a condition recognised as a disability is themselves vulnerable to a public flogging by people who should know better, rendering their physical presence in a room with them best avoided. Tells you quite a lot about ‘progressive’ society today.

But it couldn’t be social contagion, folks. It’s just that young people, especially autistic, gay and mentally ill ones, are finally free to be their authentic selves. The sudden explosion of young women who want to cut off their healthy breasts and take testosterone? Well, it’s absolutely not the newest form of self-harm, to which troubled adolescent girls are provably prone, ok? It’s not a consequence of the commonplace fear of becoming an adult woman, with all that that entails. No, there’s nothing to worry about there. The possibility of regret? Naturally, we don’t let minors get tattoos or own guns or vote, because that would be ridiculous, but if they want irreversible surgeries and drug treatments, they must be given them, and everyone around them must immediately agree they are now the opposite sex. That’s called being kind. And the mounting numbers of detransitioners? They were never trans, obviously, and should be mercilessly attacked, especially if they now say they were vulnerable and in a friendship group, online or off, dominated by trans identities, where transitioning was presented as a way to resolve all their social and emotional difficulties. (I have the emails). No, there’s nothing whatsoever to see here. Keep justifying it, keep cheering it on, keep insisting that the doctors and drug companies making serious money out of it all are acting with the purest of motives. Answer every reasonable question with an accusation of hatred and bigotry. Dispel every qualm of conscience with an activist-approved talking point. Reassure yourself that everyone on your dinner party circuit agrees with you. And when, in years to come, we’re all looking back on graphs like this, be proud that you did your bit to monster whistleblowers, parrot unevidenced claims and create the climate of fear that allowed the worst medical scandal in a century to take place.
This data never ceases to "amaze" me. In 2005, very few people received any transition related genital surgery (120 over the whole of 🇩🇪), in 2025 it was 4,184. And the shift in the age distribution is staggering: Surgeries on 18-25 year olds were almost non-existent in the noughties, now they dominate every other age group by a large factor. (This is official data)

🇫🇷🇺🇸 📰 “I Questioned Transgender Ideology. Actual magistrates said en masse more than two years ago that the Single Justice Procedure needs a significant overhaul. And still we wait for a government willing to take action...
The Single Justice Procedure (SJP) has been back in the spotlight this week. The SJP was introduced in 2015 to spare thousands of people the need to attend court for minor offences, while allowing valuable court time to be focused on more serious cases. However, in recent years the Magistrates' Association has found that many of our members are uncomfortable with the SJP process as it currently works, and a significant proportion feel they do not always get as much time as they need to properly consider each case. In 2024, we called for reform of the SJP and published 12 recommendations, including: 🔹 Reviewing and improving the training that magistrates receive before they can sit on SJP cases 🔹 The government should make provision for SJP sittings to be observable by accredited journalists 🔹 Boosting transparency by publishing more data on the SJP 🔹 Safeguarding the SJP process so that neither magistrates nor their legal advisors feel any pressure to process cases more quickly than they want to. standard.co.uk/news/crime/ma…

It’s just incredible that barrister Naomi Cunningham has to say this following yesterday’s evidence than the RCN are basically not all that bothered if a child says they want to be a eunuch. That’s how mad this gender nonsense is.
Replying to @nickwallis
[NC mentioning the eunuch thing again] You may feel that anyone who's moral compass hasn't been distorted beyond recog by GI may be able to see that if a little boy says he IDs as a eunuch the first thing to do is raise the most urgent safeguarding concerns

Replying to @nickwallis
NC do you have a view on that PM no NC is it acceptable that a child who self-IDs as a eunuch should be affirmed as a eunuch PM don't have a view - NC if a child IDs as a eunuch and adults affirm that they are guilty of horrifying child abuse PM don't know NC don't have a view

🚨🚨 Social media posts criticising Government policy are being monitored and logged by officials. Metro has obtained a list of 77 critical posts recorded by the Standards and Compliance Unit (StaCU), which oversees the Government’s Prevent programme. Established in 2024, StaCU is an “opaque” body set up to handle complaints about Prevent made on X and Reddit. But it appears officials are also scouring the internet for criticism of the programme. The posts include comments from ordinary people, many of whom would never expect Government officials to be monitoring their social media. A significant number were flagged for describing Prevent as “biased”. One X user made the list after calling its training “complete bullshit”. How can Britain claim to be a liberal democracy when officials monitor and log posts criticising Government policies and programmes? More than 62,000 people have been arrested for speech-related offences in the past five years, including over social media posts. Every day, Britain feels more like George Orwell’s 1984. And this may be just the beginning. Andy Burnham’s National Centre for Information Defence has been billed as a tool to counter information warfare from Russia. But he has also said it should address “counter-narratives” about Britain. That raises serious concerns about whether it could be used to target criticism of Government policy and its handling of issues such as mass, uncontrolled migration. As with so many secretive monitoring bodies, transparency is lacking. This revelation raises further questions about free speech, the right to protest and the right to criticise the Government. This is deeply chilling. Read more below 👇

9/ So. We now face a political reality where calls for the destruction of the modern Equality Act comes from many political corners. I'm prepared for that fight. Bring it on. But do me the courtesy of being direct and saying what you would change & how you would change it.

I see some Unions have again committed themselves to splintering the sex characteristic in law at Labour Conference today at a fringe meeting I just want to re-upp this thread pointing out the consequences of doing that with reference to what happened in Oz
1/ If Unions wish to change the law, fine, argue for it, but please set out precisely how you want the law changed so the public understand the consequences. Splintering the sex protected characteristic to include the opposite sex has far reaching effects.

A clear message from our Chair: "Just because something is the law, does not mean it is right. Laws can be wrong. Section 28 was the law, and it was wrong. And you know what the Labour government did? It changed the law. It can be done. It must be done."

Hey, white feminists! If you turn down a bloke because you don’t want to have sex with him, it’s TOTALLY FINE WITH ME! It will in no way help me, a disabled brown lesbian, if you’re nagged into shagging a guy as proof you’ve ’overcome your prejudices’.
