Why are student nurses so under-supported by the NMC? Iβve missed 3 shifts this week as my 5-year-old son was admitted to hospital, and now, with just 2 months left on placement, Iβm forced to cram 48 hour weeks to meet the 2300 hour requirement. How are we supposed to care for others when we canβt properly care for ourselves working these long, unpaid hours.
Student nurses need compassionate/carers/discretionary leave too.
