Instructions unclear, didn’t top, I won instead LMAO
I want to join a community that plays Yu-Gi-Oh at a high level. Watching worlds this year genuinely has made me motivated to try to perform well this year. I know people like Trif set goals like go to worlds or win a YCS. I want to top a YCS. Baby steps, but the goal is clear.

The idea is that with proper shuffling your deck will be randomized regardless of its starting state (piled or not) so piling is wasting time. here's a demonstration: xitter.cf/DistantCoder/status/19…
For everyone saying "bro if I don't pile shuffle my deck all my engines get clumped" NO IT ISN'T, LEARN HOW TO SHUFFLE A DECK!!! HERE IS PROOF!

it does say in a timely manner, which I agree with, but that's one of the main gripes I have with a pile "shuffle". Everyone says "pile is fine if you also do another shuffle after" but if that's the case why pile at all? At best you're wasting time, at worst you're stacking.

A properly shuffled deck contains clumps, that is normal. As humans our minds trick us to believe that a "truly randomized" anything should be even, it's why you feel off when you take a multiple choice test and answer "D" 5 times in a row. In reality, random is/can be clumpy.

I'll engage in good faith here. The main argument against pile "shuffling" is that if you are going to shuffle after piling anyway, then spending that time just shuffling does just as good a job if not better at randomizing your deck since piling doesn't randomize, it's effectively stacking. (some people argue they are bad at shuffling, to which I say practice makes perfect).

yeah, for some reason "Pile" is listed in the accepted shuffling methods in the tournament policy. I truly think this should be changed though.

Actually, Yu-Gi-Oh’s rules explicitly allow it

It’s funny that he went off about infinite loops when the deck I played for the game my post was about had 0 infinites. He saw combo and assumed it was an infinite and went haywire

Really? Idk I feel like the regular group I play with here and there have little to no issues, but going to locals to play or joining random groups on convoke has been uh.. an experience 😅

I combo'd into a win on turn 7 at a bracket 3 table playing an artifact deck. The other 3 players were out of the game because 4 creature board wipes were cast throughout the game (2 by me) so they never got to stabilize but I did.
