In contrast to tyne seeding, disc seeding preserves soil structure & minimises disturbance, which can be advantageous for retaining soil moisture in specific soil types. @DAFFgov @DirectSeeding

A big shout out to @lachiekoch1 who fresh faced, straight out of school came to us as a harvest casual in 2019. 5 years later and he’s making his way home to take on the family farm. We will miss having him around and he’s had an everlasting impact on what we do here!

6 weeks later. This part of the paddock has been held back a bit by 2023 Sakura carryover compared to 2023 Voraxor in other sections. I think the discs were probably more affected than dbs, but they're both starting to get moving now.

Very pleasing, albeit slightly late start to yr 3 of our disc vs tyne demo.
@InterGrain1 MaximusCL Barley this year after a failed wheat crop in 2023.
Early development looks very similar. Discs a bit more showy from the road due to shallower furrows.

Thanks to the @DirectSeeding team for making the considerable effort to get the gent machine here again this year.
Will be reinstalling moisture probes with @GroupMIG and looking forward to actually having some moisture in the soil this year to assess the different systems.
