Rather than earning a PhD in SemVer in Rust, watch my @rustconf talk tomorrow on how cargo-semver-checks can help you avoid accidental breaking changes. It'll be live-streamed online for free!
"if the bar is you have to get a PhD in semantic versioning and work on it for several years exclusively before you can be a productive package maintainer that doesn't blow up everyone else's projects every so often, then that is just not a good place to be, right?" ~ @PredragGruevski

Declarative querying done well gives us superpowers. It's why I built the Trustfall query engine, which is now the secret sauce behind all other cool tools I've built. Thanks to @DevtoolsFM for having me on the podcast, I had a blast!
"What we need is kind of like an LLVM for databases as it were I just read a declarative query and it's something else's job to figure out how to do all of that." ~ @PredragGruevski Find out more about Trustfall on our latest ep!

I was recently on the @DevtoolsFM podcast going deep into the history and design of ESLint. How did ESLint win over JSHint? Why not rewrite in TypeScript? Why not rewrite in Rust? Thoughts on “zero config” tools. devtools.fm/episode/108

About ESLint embracing and then discarding stylistic rules.
Should you add stylistic rules to @geteslint? @slicknet used to think so, but not anymore!

Loved this conversation. We got *deep* into JavaScript's linting past and present. We cover: - Why did ESLint succeed over JSHint? - Why not rewrite in TypeScript? - Why not rewrite in Rust? And so much more.
Why did @geteslint win the first linting war? It wasn't speed Listen to more from it's creator @slicknet on our latest ep

The essence and spirit of us.
What would you build if you could access Swift directly from JS? You can with @NativeScript! More with @wwwalkerrun and @eduardosperoni on our latest ep

It was super fun to record this with @wwwalkerrun and the @DevtoolsFM hosts. Thank you for having me and I hope we got you all excited to try out NativeScript
This week we dig into @NativeScript, a tool that gives you full access to platform APIs (iOS, Android, etc) right from JS Don't miss this one with @wwwalkerrun and @eduardosperoni

I stand by my views! Swift is even starting to support cross-compilation so you can compile a Linux binary on a Mac. Rust is great but it’s too low level.
Everybody loves rust, but should they be using Swift instead? More 🌶️ takes from @naman34 on our latest ep podcasters.spotify.com/pod/s… youtube.com/watch?v=34TvzOdk…

the JavaScript ecosystem would hugely benefit writing all tooling in Swift rather than Rust.

You had me at "at scale, some people break the rules" 🙌 as Sherlock Holmes said "an exception disproves the rule" Rules enforced through best practices are not enforced, especially when push comes to shove and engineers have deadlines to meet.

I need tech podcasters (not youtubers, podcasters) to make more episodes. I love and listen to tech podcasts like @DevtoolsFM faster than they can make them.

I absolutely love @dhh Watching his interview on @DevtoolsFM from a couple months ago. Personally I'm a React TypeScript guy. But I'm a TS guy for exactly the same reason DHH is a Ruby guy. I like it. It works the way my brain works. Human first
