I'm excited to share my first new book (or e-book) in over five years! Understanding JavaScript Promises explains not just how promises work but also how to use them in the real world.
And the best part? It's free. Grab yours now.

AI may make you more productive but, at least in my experience, it still takes a lot of work to end up with a high-quality finished product.
Man, ChatGPT is so buggy. Sometimes it can write to project memory, sometimes it can't. Sometimes it can write to project sources, sometimes it can't. Sometimes image generation follows project instructions, sometimes it doesn't, and ChatGPT itself can't tell me why. 🤬
Thanks Alex. 🙏

Nicholas C. Zakas (@slicknet) created ESLint and still works on it more than a decade later. npm counts about 161 million downloads a week. If your editor underlined a bug before you shipped it today, that was likely ESLint. Thank you, Nicholas.
tfw you have an idea for an app and not only did someone already make it but it has basically the same name you had in mind. 🤬
Why does Claude Code feel the need to randomly point out that I’ve not connected my Gmail account? It has nothing to do with what I’m working on.
Today's LLMs are really good at producing code that works. They brute force a lot of the work, so it still needs someone to oversee the process and make sure prototype-level code isn't pushed to production.
Really enjoying my Framework 13 Pro. It feels solid and high end. The display is really nice and the touchscreen works great. My only complaint is that tapping on the screen makes it bounce a bit. That means you can’t really use it with one hand, you have to hold the screen and then tap it. I’m hoping that something that they’ll work on in the future.
Otherwise, great machine so far.

Man, the models come fast and furious. Who knew Jev would only have a few weeks’ lead before competitors showed up?
it's decision model season 🍂

In case you missed it, I made a thing to help with triaging comments on busy GitHub pull requests.
Sometimes my pull requests end up with dozens of comments and the GitHub interface starts breaking down quickly. Between hiding comments and no easy way to keep track of what I've read and what I haven't, I end up missing important feedback or just exhausted. I've asked GitHub for an Outlook-style view of comments when I finally decided to build my own.
Read more about the project here:

It's free and open source:

Try it online:

It even works for top-level comments, where it uses @-mentions to try and find similar comments to thread together. You can work through top-level and inline comments in a similar way. I've been using this the past week and it's made me a lot more productive.
