Yup, platform activity is surging. There were 1 billion commits in 2025. Now, it's 275 million per week, on pace for 14 billion this year if growth remains linear (spoiler: it won't.)
GitHub Actions has grown from 500M minutes/week in 2023 to 1B minutes/week in 2025, and now 2.1B minutes so far this week.
So we're pushing incredibly hard on more CPUs, scaling services, and strengthening GitHub’s core features.
And as a fine purveyor of hand-crafted shit code for many years, I'm not gonna weigh in on that. 🤣

Today I launched @builtfordevs on Product Hunt. 🎉
I built this by productizing a service that drove the greatest results I've ever seen in my career. Real developers screen recorded themselves naturally trying a client's dev tool—no scripts, no hand-holding. Those recordings shaped findings reports that told founders exactly what was broken and what to fix.
One client fixed a few friction points and hit Product Hunt #1 product of the day and week. Another completely pivoted their market using insights from 10 developer segments.
The service was such a success that it became a platform. Continuous journey tracking, real developer evaluations, and an AI engine that analyzes every data point including video and recommends exactly what to fix.
If you're a #devtool founder watching developers sign up and disappear—this is for you.

Hearing reports of:
- new php files in public folder with backdoors
- perl scripts active processes
- weird jobs in the queue
Check your version and update!
Don't forget to update Livewire 3 as soon as possible! Not sure what the issue is exactly, but you probably want to have this security update live before it's public knowledge; github.com/advisories/GHSA-2…

We split our monolith into microservices. It was a mistake.
Before:
- One Rails app
- 200k lines of code
- Deploy time: 8 minutes
- 5 person team
After the split:
- 8 microservices
- Separate databases
- Message queues everywhere
- Service mesh for communication
What actually happened:
- Deploy complexity increased 10x
- Debugging across services became a nightmare
- Data consistency issues appeared
- Team spent more time on infrastructure than features
- No performance improvement
The real problem was not the monolith. It was poor database queries and missing indexes.
We eventually:
- Merged 5 services back into the monolith
- Kept 3 truly independent services
- Fixed the actual performance issues
- Simplified our deployment pipeline
Microservices are not a silver bullet. Sometimes your monolith just needs optimization, not dismantling.
