I'm 37
Full time nomad indiehacker since 2017 with @dinkydani21, travelled to 70 countries 🌍
Finally built a product that makes good money ~2023, and spent it all on a sailboat ⛵
Now we work, sail, travel, and have a great time 😄
This week I'm sailing to Venice, wyd?
To someone who knows things, will we get the equivalent of open-weight models for jev?
We do loads of classification but only use self-hosted models for privacy reasons

People keep posting this but it's a not correct.
If you focus on one thing and it's the wrong thing for you (MANY EXAMPLES OF THIS ON X) you will drive yourself absolutely mad trying to make it work.
Does that mean you should be launching a new product every month like @marclou?
No.
But it does mean you should try new ideas <> kill bad ones until one of them finally whispers "this is the one — grow me" and THEN you go all out on it.
A guiding star for you: you should have outside forces compelling you to work hard on it. If you do not feel this you do not have product/founder fit.
Most founders *should* focus on one product and do the work repeatedly for a long time.
I don't think that's a particularly hot take.
But @marclou already makes $70K MRR from his main products.
He's doing pretty well ;)

A few months ago we started consistently seeing these spammy cold emails
The email address is always [email protected]
Super annoying to block because;
- unique email addresses
- inconsistent content (can't classify)
- gmail = good sender reputation
The ultimate rent hack - living in a marina during winter
This one costs €2000 for the whole 6 months of winter, including utilities! 🤯
So ~€300/mo to live in a beautiful Mediterranean old town with good food, mild weather, and no tourists!
(boat not included 😉)
I'm patiently waiting for a big breach from someone who's letting AI read all their emails.
Replying to @inferniac
One attack vector concept in my head is that if I spoof a sender then your AI will read the old messages in that thread when it drafts a reply to mine.
If it's not reading + sending/drafting, or has web access then you're ok I think
Seems like @mercury isn't a great choice for running a business remotely if you can't log into it from where you currently are without being banned 😬
Mercury is closing the bank account for my US LLC, I think because I accessed it while I was in Indonesia, which is on their list of banned countries (I live in Europe)
Does anyone have a contact there who can expedite a manual review?
I love Mercury and I would really prefer not to switch! @immad @mercury
this is the @bot example of it managing your inbox, but is anyone actually using AI like this?
I feel like this would cause me even more stress
I've shipped 6 small tools in the last few months and I have spent exactly zero time maintaining them
I ship them and then they just work
In a year maybe I'll need to update the packages or smth
I don't know why people think running things on a VPS is such a time sink 🤷
Replying to @JamesIvings @kylegawley
How about the time to maintain those tools, else they save you a lot of money
definitely an upgrade from v1 😁

No need to rely on your email provider for blocking all the awful AI cold-emails 🔥

Everyone's talking about Ceuta this week, but I think I'm the only person I know who's actually been there!
We sailed there from Gibraltar. It has quite a rugged vibe which we liked
Very windy though, I feel sorry for anyone desperate enough to swim there 🥺
🚨 PSA if you're sending marketing emails
From July France requires opt-in consent for tracking pixels
Italy also looking into it, so probably will become part of GDPR
