I've noticed that I never see people say "that money could have been used to feed people" whenever Disney spends half a billion dollars on a Marvel movie.

“I can’t homeschool, I can’t teach my 12yo algebra!”
Didn’t you take &pass all the algebra necessary for your High School Diploma?
"Yeah, but I don’t remember any of it!”
So you’re going to have your kid go through the same failed process that yielded the same results for you?

and you are giving up because you tried twice? or maybe 10 times?
look, a winner is just a loser that tried one more time and that's just it
winners lose more than losers even try.

I’m noticing a lot of foreigners who seem to not understand why we’d risk hundreds of lives, spend millions of dollars, and sacrifice several aircraft to rescue one guy. And the reason they don’t understand is also the reason people can’t be made American by a piece of paper.

Homeschooling was the greatest gift I ever got
3 hrs/day
Started college at 15 with a 29 ACT
Very little intervention or 1-on-1 work with my mom, she taught me to read and maintained structure and discipline and I did the work
I don't know who needs to hear this, but if you homeschool, you don't need to spend 6+ hours per day doing it.
Public school should not be your model.
What a typical homeschool day might look like:
- Kids wake up 8:30 - 9:00
- Kids start school around 10:00
- Kids are usually done by lunchtime. Sometimes they go a little bit after. Rest of the day is free.
- At night, the family reads together for 45-60 minutes.
Sometimes we go to the zoo.
Sometimes we take walks.
Sometimes they have an online class.
Sometimes they do nothing extra.
One day a week we go to our co-op and spend time with other families. They usually do a science experiment.
As kids reach middle school, they take on more responsibility for themselves, and school lasts a bit longer per day.
But at that point, your personal involvement doesn't increase drastically.
You already helped them grow and spread their wings.
They can fly a bit on their own.

We talk so casually about “childcare” like mothers are interchangeable, as if babies simply adapt to whoever is placed in front of them.
But children don’t just need care, they need their mothers.
They need the steady presence, unchangingness, the same face at the beginning and end of every day.
The world wants to pretend that none of this matters, that babies are resilient and mothers are replaceable.
But the child knows. Even if they can’t articulate it, their memories stay, the fear lingers, their bodies know.
And what a cruel tragedy isn’t it to have a child wondering every day… are you my mother?

If you don't feel qualified as a public school graduate to teach your kids the things you learned, maybe school didn't do such a good job.

If a parent says, “I could never spend all day with my kids”, there’s a relationship problem.
