Looking for papers documenting/testing the idea that that an intervention that empowers women in one domain can lead to them reducing empowerment/independent decisionmaking in other domains - e.g. capitulating to compensate / trying to avoid conflict within the HH.

Presenting a paper joint w/ @SerkantAdiguzel on the distributional effects of the Islamic waqf. It served to perpetuate temporal inequalities and aimed to replicate them in the hereafter, the paper suggests, based on data from Istanbul, 1453-1923. (Monday TSİ 17, GMT 15, EST10)

- There are now many Russians in Kherson who arrived for the 9th May parade. Many of them now work at the market and sell Russian products. My friend says that when they go out now they don’t see familiar faces. Russians are arriving to replace Ukrainians and live in their homes.
