I gave a talk on how #Celegans reaches the right #size at the online Cell Size and Growth seminar yesterday. A recording of it is available for two weeks. Big thanks to @JanSkotheim @mpswaffer and @MikeChuckLanz for organizing this fantastic series!
Really exciting and thought-provoking talks from @junlab_ucsd on bacterial size control & @betowbin on the coupling of growth with development in worms at yesterday's Cell Size and Growth seminar. If you missed it, you can check out the recording here: youtu.be/CgBVANGi86k

Excited to see that my first, first-author paper with @samgriffjon and @PapalopuluLab is now out! Do you work on dynamically expressed proteins? Probably. Check to see if your favourite transcriptional regulator features in our results. nature.com/articles/s41598-0…

Exciting #PhDposition in my lab at @unibern to study how organs reach the right size! We combine quantitative live #imaging of #Celegans, #genetics, and computational approaches. Check towbinlab.org or DM me for more info. Please RT! tinyurl.com/ycmc6hyq
Exciting new preprint from the @PapalopuluLab showing social distancing can give rise to motor neurons. Not just endless zoom calls.
Cells in tissue are using ‘group chats’ to make decisions! Multiscale synthesis of fine-grained protein expression of HES5 reveals locally co-ordinated clusters and stripes that control rate of progenitor differentiation. bioRxiv: biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/… 1/5

At the beginning of the lockdown, our postdoc @Caro_Hoppe was named one of the winners of the #eBSDBimages competition that was part of the online #BSDBGenSoc2020 conference. We love that image, well done!
Follow this thead to see four beautiful entries to the #eBSDBimages competition as part of #BSDBGenSoc2020 And the winner is... all of them! We'll be in touch with the four winners by DM to arrange to send prizes. Congratulations! #CollaborationNotCompetition

Great talks so far at the #FameLab heats ....But a slight digression with the talk of 'fart maps' of festivals- any suggestions for applications of this idea ? 🤣 #scicomm

Latest preprint by @TomMinchington @samgriffjon decomposes gene regulation into simple motifs showing that dual feedback motifs (auto-regulatory TF+microRNA) are prevalent and thus could drive dynamic expression in many genes found in human. biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…

It has been an exciting and eventful week! Passing my PhD viva followed by our preprint which is available now on bioRxiv. We have used smFISH, MS2 live imaging and computational modelling to investigate how single cells decode the BMP gradient during Drosophila embryogenesis.
Preprint by the Ashe lab in collaboration with @MagnusRattray investigating how single cells decode the BMP signaling gradient during Drosophila embryogenesis. We used quantitative imaging and computational modeling to dissect the transcriptional parameters integrating BMP levels
