Meet Lola, #StetPet editorial assistant of Boise Guild member @DetailedDraft.
"Trusty goofball Lola growls when she’s happy and gives the best extended greetings. She can spot the tiniest crumb on the floor like an editor can spot an italicized period."

Super congrats!!!
It’s the exact perfect hot week for this snowy editing project ❄️
Don’t hesitate to book edits for wintery manuscripts in summer! Your editor might thank you extra.

Agents usually ask for 1–2 pages, single spaced. Some ask for one page, so it’s easier on you if you can get it down to one and send that version out to everyone. One page single spaced is about 500 words. Get the narrative arc and leave out the details.

Congrats, Stephanie! I’m so happy for you 🎉
It’s common advice because it shows you have realistic expectations. Also, aim for comps that were published in the last 3 years, books yours would sit next to on the shelf. This helps the agent sell it to the publisher by showing the current market for stories like yours.

I used to sub at a school where the principal did this, and literally every teacher had put theirs on their computer or the bulletin board by their desk. One was in the pencil drawer, front and center.

It’s rough out there. I’m sorry!

It’s probably not a form in this case, but “not captivated” is boilerplate language that doesn’t mean much. Don’t quit! The rest of the feedback is stellar!

Yeah, for sure!
That applies to queries, but it isn’t uncommon to hear no response on fulls and partials. It’s OK to nudge!

I just made an editing client a list of agents with recent NA sales. Can I DM it to you?

Came here to say this!
