1976 schedule from the @freep baseball preview issue
This concludes the recap of the #Tigers 1976 season. After a hiatus for a trip and time to focus in the 1945 World Series for my other account @TigerPast, I'll be giving a player by player review of the 1976 season.
Dave Roberts pitched his 18th complete game of the season for the #Tigers. Roberts (16-17) gave up two runs (1 earned) on 8 hits with no walks. Roberts struck out two.
In the bottom of 6th inning, with runners at second and third for Milwaukee with two outs, Hank Aaron got an infield single to deep shortstop to drive in a run. Aaron, playing the final game of his career, was lifted for a pinch runner.
The #Tigers scored a run in the 2nd inning when Pedro Garcia singled with the bases loaded. In the 4th inning, Mickey Stanley singled, stole second and scored on a second RBI single by Garcia.
After Milwaukee scored an unearned run in the 5th inning, the #Tigers scored three in the 6th. Willie Horton hit a ground-rule double, went to third on a single by Danny Meyer and scored on a single by Stanley.
Ṭwo days ago, the #Tigers ended the 1976 season with a 5-2 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers. Pedro Garcia had two hits and knocked in three runs in beating his former teammates.

Mark Fidrych became only the second member of the #Tigers to ever receive a three year contract (Rusty Staub is the only other). The contract, that Fidrych negotiated with his father and not an agent, calls for Fidrych to receive a raise for his work in 1976.
The Free Press speculates that he will like receive $50,000 in salary next year, with raises over the next two years.
Mark Fidrych held the Milwaukee Brewers scoreless on three hits for the first eight innings while the #Tigers built a 4-0 lead. In the 9th a pair of singles and sacrifice fly resulted in Milwaukee's only run.
The #Tigers beat the Milwaukee Brewers, 4-1, in front of 9,044 at County Stadium this afternoon for their third consecutive victory. In the 2nd inning, Bruce Kimm walked, stole second, went to third on a wild pitched and scored on an infield single by Chuck Scrivener.
A Rusty Staub sacrifice fly mde the score 2-0 in the 5th. In the 7th, Pedro Garcia singled and scored on a Staub double. Rusty went to third on a passed ball and scored on a Robin Yount error on a two out ground ball by Willie Horton.
