I am sponsoring HB0129, known as the Defend the Guard Bill.
This crucial legislation aims to protect our TN National Guard members by ensuring they are not sent into federal active duty combat without a formal declaration of war by Congress or an explicit constitutional call.

MT’s Defend the Guard bill was killed in the ETFR committee Friday night. All R’s voted for it except for Chair Parry.
Parry voted with all the D’s to kill HB 404 and keep sending our NG to war.
He has not approached me about it. Maybe call him and ask why. 406-749-0545

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
The Montana Libertarian Party (“MTLP”) is filing multiple FOIA requests to gather information related to the ‘Defend the Guard’ Act, including details regarding publicly funded helicopter rides and tours of Fort Harrison that were provided to legislators, alleged threats that funds and equipment would be pulled if the ‘Defend the Guard’ Act passes, the identification of public officials and military personnel making such claims, and more.
The ‘Defend the Guard’ Act, which would prohibit the governor from releasing the Montana National Guard into combat zones if Congress has not declared war, is a top priority for the MTLP because, like most Montanans, we are tired of seeing our men and women deployed to endless wars that Congress is unwilling to sign onto.
We intend to find out the extent of the waste, fraud, and abuse used to lobby against it.

HUGE NEWS! @ryandbusse, former Democratic gubernatorial candidate, has endorsed the ‘Defend the Guard’ Act.
The bill has broad support, receiving endorsements from Republicans like @PeteHegseth and @TimSheehyMT, the @Montana_LP, and now Ryan Busse!
This is what coalition building looks like!

It comes as a huge surprise that Republicans are our strongest allies on @DefendTheGuard, while a significant amount of Democrats in Montana are pro-war and refuse to keep our National Guardsmen from undeclared wars—even when Trump is president.
Why won't @Bob_Hd98 commit to keeping Montana National Guardsmen from endless wars?

Last night, Montana’s Adjutant General claimed @TimSheehyMT did not endorse the ‘Defend the Guard’ Act
I met with Sen. Sheehy to discuss the bill last year, and he passionately endorsed it on video two days later. @DanMcKnight30 set the record straight:

BREAKING: The Adjutant General of the state of Montana is inviting state legislators to fly in helicopters as a lobbying effort to kill the ‘Defend the Guard’ Act, a bill that would prevent National Guardsmen from being deployed to undeclared foreign wars
It’s a political charade, financed by taxpayer dollars, to scare legislators away from voting to uphold the Constitution and honor the sacrifice of the men and women who swore an oath to defend it. Any politician whose Constitutional oath can be traded with a cheap flight should be primaried!
I can’t wait until @PeteHegseth, who supports Defend the Guard, looks into this waste, fraud, and abuse! Maybe @elonmusk and DOGE? Or can @GovGianforte put an end to this?

Pete Hegseth endorsed the Defend the Guard Act and is now SecDef
And yet generals still show up in uniform in state capitols nationwide and lobby against this constitutionalist bill
That needs to end. Maybe @elonmusk & @PeteHegseth can help!

Help us pass the @DefendTheGuard Act in Montana
Our National Guard should be on American soil to aid in protecting our borders, assist with National emergencies, and keeping America safe here at home.
Call your Montana Legislators and let them know we need to keep our National Guardsmen home unless Congress formally declares war.
