The Friday the 13th movies were about the shock of death - the victims don't know Jason's coming, they're young & beautiful & fucking, the sex is thematically essential that way. Pop culture is anti-sex now though, & the focus on Lore & Gore suits Horror Nerds just fine cause they're heckin Good People who know Horror has really always been about celebrating otherness or whatever
Crystal Lake showrunner Brad Caleb Kane says he tried to get more explicit nudity into the series
"I tried. That’s America. You can give the kids the violence, but God forbid they see some breasts."

In the late eighties we had a trader called Malcolm, the hardest man on the floor, who never smiled and was rumoured to have once shouted a junior into the Thames.
In the winter of '88, he found a kitten in the alley behind the office, and from that day it lived in his bottom drawer.
On quiet afternoons he’d sit with it on his lap, stroking it more gently than any of us thought possible.
One Friday it got out, walked across his keyboard and left him with a huge position going the wrong way, fast. He couldn’t get out of it. He sat there until the market closed with the cat on his lap, stroking it and watching his career go down the drain.
Over the weekend the market turned, and by Monday it was the best trade he ever made.
Malcolm never traded without the cat again.

France has literally recognized a Palestinian state, banned Smotrich and Ben-Gvir from entering the country, provided over €345 million in humanitarian aid to Palestinians since 2023, supported sanctions against Israeli settlers, and led international efforts for Palestinian statehood. Macron has even publicly opposed the U.S.-Israeli military campaign against Iran. What more, exactly, is France supposed to do? Anti-Zionism once again a trojan horse to destroy the sovereignty of Western countries.
BRIAN KILMEADE: "Did you see the Palestinian flags? What does it have to do with the school curriculum, or lack of teachers, or the days being too long?"
REP. RO KHANNA: "There are many people—young people—who are upset about what happened in Gaza. And that's not just immigrants. That's many people who grew up in France, including immigrants."
BRIAN KILMEADE: "So you burn a 200-year-old building because you don't like what's happening in Gaza?"

People like this need to quit the peacocking. In 2020 they talked tough, but when the few actually did defend themselves, most of these types turned their backs on them, or outright were antagonistic to them.

American-Egyptian activist Eman Mabrouk celebrates the riots in France: ''I think burn it all down, stop sucking European Master's dicks, liberation isn't going to be pretty, it's going to cost blood, it's going to cost lives.''
Really cool how this third world bio-weapon somehow gets a piece of paper calling her American even as she agitates for race war against white people. 70,000 Instagram likes!
Also really fucking cool that so-called ''Australian'' citizen Dr. Mo Mustafa - widely known as the "Beast from the Middle East'' - collaborated with her on this Instagram reel. He calls himself an Australian for the benefits of the passport while endorsing videos like this which call for explicit race war against Europeans.
Western immigration policy has been a catastrophe for decades, how the fuck did these people get passports when they hate us this much.

A terrifying death spiral as austerity gets redefined as “not increasing benefits further” or even worse, “not increasing benefits as much as we would like.”
A nice old building burns, and so the pearl-clutching begins. Where were these pearl clutchers when austerity was wrecking a generation? Why does one town hall grab their attention but millions of schools, hospitals, and homes dilapidated by neoliberalism are of no importance?

France's level of public social spending was third highest in the world at 30.6% of GDP in 2024. Excluding the pandemic, it is slightly down from its 31.9% high in 2014. Total public spending is 57.2%, second highest among large countries not at war and near all-time highs.

Hello Washington Post,
Are these people in the group of 10 officials you mention? Because they're all over my files where they're working with the same ex-USAID officials plotting to rewrite the Constitution.
A small group of U.S. national security officials has been discreetly advising state and congressional lawmakers on how to prepare for the possibility that the Trump administration will attempt to interfere in the midterms, according to people involved. wapo.st/3WjVke5

Imagine if South Africa had nukes today.
I’ve seen a few posts note that France has nuclear weapons, and that if a Submission scenario plays out, that wouldn’t be so great. I don’t think that’s on the horizon, but it’s legitimate to worry that if a country so totally changes its population as to be something else - you have to think about those weapons.
Recall that South Africa dismantled its nuclear program before handing power over to Mandela and the ANC. I think everyone would agree that was a good idea whatever else one thought of the white minority government.

i dont even like anime or go to shops like this. but i know this kind of place survives off razor thin margins, held together at the seams by a loyal customer base and like one or two guys who work tireless 80hr weeks. if you do this you should be pulled apart by horses. no trial

You’re leaving out the fact that Amy Acton’s mother lost custody of her and hasn’t seen her since she was twelve years old because she married a child molester who proceeded to sexually abuse her. You and Vivek are disgusting freaks who should be sent to rot in an Indian slum.

This is a really shitty thing to put on the air. Incredible scum bag move.
BOMBSHELL:
Ohio Democratic gubernatorial candidate Amy Acton’s own mother urges voters not to vote for her daughter.
“My name is Donna Arthur and I’m Amy Acton’s mother. I worked at Children and Family Service Association, building one of the first two sexual abuse programs in America.
I love my daughter, but when I saw her lying about her opponent—and it’s not easy for a mother to say this—but Amy has a serious problem.
She is a liar. She lies about her past. She says she grew up living in a tent. None of that is true. She’s lied her entire life.
My daughter needs help, and she can’t help you if she needs help herself. People can change, but first they have to tell the truth, and my daughter still isn’t doing that.
Don’t vote for people who lie. Don’t let her become your governor. If you think she’ll make your life better, you’re fooling yourself. It will only get worse.”
That’s one hell of an October surprise.

Acton's mother lost custody of her children after years of documented issues, including time spent living in a tent and a spouse who sexually abused her daughter Amy (Acton). Amy Acton's brother has also confirmed this story.

Notice how when he sees a picture of his original design, he likes it instead of cringing at it or acting embarrassed? Is it so hard for adaptations to do that now?
