Europe’s Black Sea security problem has become a test of credibility. Merchant vessels face deadly attacks near EU member states, crews are being placed in danger, and Ukrainian export routes remain vulnerable. Yet Brussels is still discussing whether to consider a naval response.

Russian forces have failed to achieve their principal objectives in eastern Ukraine during the 2026 campaign, while Ukrainian counteroffensives have disrupted Moscow’s plans to encircle the Donbas fortress belt.
As Washington prepares renewed negotiations with Vladimir Putin, the widening discrepancy between Russia’s military claims and battlefield realities raises questions about the territorial concessions the Kremlin is demanding.

The United States is changing how it trains Ukrainian soldiers in Germany, transferring responsibility from rotating National Guard formations to active-duty Army units already based in Bavaria. The restructuring points towards a more enduring training arrangement, although its practical significance will depend on the resources and instruction that follow.

The IRA were terrorists, not soldiers. Their campaign of murder and bombing was not a war of equals, and no amount of historical revisionism will ever make it so. Labour’s Northern Ireland Troubles Bill risks allowing the IRA to rewrite history while British veterans face the prospect of being dragged through investigations decades after serving their country.
Where is the accountability for the IRA? Where are the answers from the Irish Government about those who fled across the border, the support they received and the supply of weapons?
I served in the British Army. My friend, Captain Robert Nairac, was murdered by the IRA. His body has never been recovered. His family still deserves to know what happened to him and where he lies.
The IRA cannot be allowed to portray its campaign of terror as justified by the Good Friday Agreement. Peace does not retrospectively legitimise murder. There is no moral equivalence between terrorists and those who served to uphold the law.
This Bill is a betrayal of our veterans and of families still waiting for the truth.
“This is a terrible bill and a terrible act.”

Was a pleasure to join @KemiBadenoch today. Our veterans deserve more than Labour's lawfare.
Brilliant to stand with our veterans alongside @KemiBadenoch in Parliament Square against the Government’s Northern Ireland Troubles Bill. With two days of debate ahead of us, we will keep opposing Labour’s damaging lawfare. We will defend those who defended us.

Ahead of this week's debates on the Northern Ireland Troubles Bill I went to speak to some of our brave veterans outside Parliament.
We must ensure that those who fought to defend the peace in Northern Ireland are themselves protected from vexatious legal processes.

The Armed Forces need to train to be operationally ready. This should be funded so it doesn’t have to be cut at a time when the threat has increased.

I am proud to stand with fellow Northern Ireland veterans alongside @KemiBadenoch and Conservative MPs as we oppose the Government's Northern Ireland Bill.
This Bill still leaves veterans open to politically-motivated vexatious prosecutions. That is simply unacceptable.
