Same with Nithya Amirtham on Haddows Road. Instead of leaving the entire ground floor for parking, they have seating. Their coffee stall and parking valet blocks the entire footpath. Most of the parking happens blocking both sides of Haddows Road next to the Railways quarters which has a no parking sign. Additionally they've managed to get a speed breaker installed right opposite so that traffic has to slow to enable movement of their customer cars. They had a dedicated parking spot on Nungambakkam High Road where earlier there was a Petrol Station but it was never used - just a board used to be there. Even that they have stopped pretending now.

A wafer goes through 1,000+ steps inside a fab, and more than half of them exist just to measure what was built. And as chips go 3D, the most critical structures are buried where today's inline tools can't see them. We recently announced our ₹9.2 Cr investment in Makr Microsystems, which is building an Acoustic AFM that uses ultrasound to see beneath the surface. It's exactly the kind of deep IP India's semiconductor ecosystem needs. Read my thesis below: linkedin.com/pulse/why-we-in… @BluehillVC IN/AIF1/24-25/1513

1. In 2006,the Sonia Gandhi-led UPA decided to strengthen the humanities depts in #IITs in order to introduce the Ambedkarite-Periyarite trojan within the IIT System. This trojan has been steroidally strengthened, not weakened,by the panoramic hyper Ambedkarism of NDA since 2014.

did my B.Tech at IIT Bombay and my PhD at IIT Delhi. I've been a professor for 14 years now. In 22 years of watching the IIT/IIIT system closely, I have never once witnessed a teacher discriminate against a student on the basis of caste. During my B.Tech, most of us had no idea what caste our batchmates belonged to. Many of my close friends were SC/ST. We never discussed it. It never entered any conversation or decision. Not once. Our exposure to the humanities department was limited, though — the term "Brahmanical patriarchy" didn't even exist back then. As a teacher, I don't ask a student's name before solving their doubt. Often I don't know their name at all — some of my classes have 300+ students. We treat them all the same. So does every colleague I know. So did every professor who taught me. Social media has now filled vulnerable students' heads with a lot of manufactured grievance about caste discrimination that, in my experience, doesn't exist.

Twice in the last month, my Uber ride to the airport was with Bangladeshi drivers.

Budigere route is a shocker. There's no road inside Singahalli. Half laid roads are the norm all the way through. Budigere cross junction gets backed up quite badly under the flyover because of poor traffic management. It should ideally be less than 40 mins to the airport from Whitefield via this route. Today it can take double that.

😭😭😭 My hot take is that Elon is not nearly rich enough and the world would be a better place if he had 10X more capital to put at work.
A beautiful surprise

India mein koi 5 minutes number Google kar le to doodh ka doodh paani ka paani ho jaye. RBI surplus to Govt : ₹2.87 Lakh Crores (US$30 Bn) Total listed bank profits : ₹4.11 Lakh Crores (US$42 Bn) NPCI - which runs UPI pre tax ‘surplus’ : ₹ 1,888 crores (US$200 Mn) To nuksaan kis ka ho raha hai UPI se aur kaunsi subsidy de rahi hai Govt UPI pe jo chubh rahi hai? Cost of running ATMs and cash logistics in India is ₹30,500 crores (US$ 3.0 Bn). If you want to optimise shut ATMs and promote UPI instead. Any levy on UPI is just tax collection. UPI is the one scientific achievement of India everyone acknowledges par ab tax ki bali chadhegi.
UPI Charges Row | Ashneer Grover Exclusive If I transfer ₹1 lakh to my friend through UPI, or I pay ₹3,000 using a QR code, what is the cost of running the system? The cost is the same. So, if I transfer ₹1 lakh to my friend, nobody is making money from it. But if I make a payment of ₹2,500 to a small shopkeeper then the government wants to put charges, what’s the logic? — @Ashneer_Grover speaks to @shreyadhoundial

India’s deep-tech moment is moving from “Can we build it?” to “Can we build it here - and at global scale?” With larger cheques flowing into deeptech and frontier technology, investors are increasingly looking for real IP, technical depth and defensible innovation — not just a compelling pitch. Manu Iyer, Co-Founder & General Partner, Bluehill.VC, will share what makes India’s next generation of deep-tech companies investable. Your CCTV camera was designed in China. So was the flight controller inside most Indian drones. @DeepTechManu of @BluehillVC just closed a ₹400 crore fund to back the engineers changing that across chips, rockets, and defence. Full episode link in comments👇
