I wonder does she ever regret not taking that job at the orangutan sanctuary?

Pengelly’s outrage is a desperate attempt to deflect from the nakedly sectarian & triumphalist Orange campaign in Portadown which her party supported, precipitating the fall out.
The DUP have, once again, taken unionism into a corner by failing to lead.
🚨⬇️Deputy First Minister @little_pengelly has taken to social media tonight to issue this statement.

This comment is so silly. If it were you and not an aide who wrote it, it tells you everything you need to know about how preoccupied you are with the First Minister.
This tells you everything you need to know. Michelle O’Neill has a PSNI vehicle and could have driven into the police station, but chose to performatively walk in for the invited press. What a surprise. Fake, reckless and divisive behaviour once again.
People are sick of this behaviour.
Yet on important issues - not to be found. Tomorrow we have an opportunity and offer to meet with the Secretary of State and the Chief Secretary of the Treasury on budget and she has refused to attend that meeting.
This is not responsibility, that is recklessness and an abdication of her role.

Cullen is perfect for the constituency, Liam. She'll have a much greater impact than any councillor would have. Until now, she's been massively underused by the party. This move makes sense. SF may well not get them both elected but, from their point of view, it's worth a punt.

Proud and privileged to participate in the South Belfast and Mid-Down Sinn Féin selection convention tonight. Two superb candidates in community activism and trade unionism- Deirdre Hargey and Pat Cullen. Let’s get them elected!

This latest article from Thomas Pikkety, the renowned French economist and leading authority on wealth inequality, should be essential reading here in the UK.
His argument is simple.
France has never been wealthier. Yet education funding per student has fallen by 20% since 2017, public services are struggling, and inequality is deeply embedded in the system.
Sound familiar?
The problem isn't that our countries have run out of wealth. It's how that wealth is distributed, who controls it, and the political choices made to protect it.
For decades, we've been told that austerity, declining public services and falling living standards are unavoidable consequences of economic crises, yet those same decades have seen extraordinary concentrations of private wealth.
Socialise the costs. Privatise the gains.
This is the reality we all need to wake up to.
These aren't inevitable economic outcomes. They're the consequences of political choices, made over time, that have prioritised the accumulation of private wealth over the needs of society.
And as public anger grows, we're seeing a deeply concerning response: The rise of the far right, directing that anger towards immigrants, disabled people, those claiming welfare and other vulnerable groups, rather than towards the economic structures responsible for the inequalities people are rightly furious about.
As @NaomiAKlein describes fascism, "it's capitalism's most ferocious threat response. A way of directing public anger downwards at the vulnerable, rather than upwards at the system."
Fascism doesn't challenge the status quo. It protects it by giving people someone else to blame.
The fundamental question isn't whether our societies can afford something better. It's why, when we've never been wealthier, we're repeatedly told we must accept less.
We need to fundamentally rethink an economy built around extraction, exploitation and wealth concentration, and start building one that delivers equitable, sustainable prosperity for everyone.
And with the UK Budget next week, this should be a serious warning to @UKLabour.
If the Budget fails to acknowledge this fundamental reality, and instead offers another round of "difficult decisions" that protect concentrated wealth while asking ordinary people to shoulder the burden, then @andyburnham really hasn't understood what's happening across Europe.
What's unfolding in France isn't an isolated protest. It's a warning of what happens when people stop accepting that a society growing ever wealthier somehow can't afford to give them a better life.
This isn't something politicians can keep kicking down the road.
The warning signs are everywhere. The question now is whether those in power are prepared to confront the causes, or continue defending the very system that's driving the anger.

I can confirm, despite the PSNI assessment that dissidents may have had ready access to weapons on Garvaghy road, no surveillance was launched to follow potential weapons.
There was no contact with security services and no counter terrorism specialist firearms teams were put in place at any point.
Serious questions now being asked of the PSNI that if they believed weapons were on the road why they did not follow that belief @BelTel
This chart on intelligence is very important in context of today’s court case around Drumcree / Garvaghy Road.
It’s worth noting that my sources say that PSNI intelligence was separate to the intelligence of MI5 who unlike PSNI intel- were on the Garvaghy Road, in person.
That intelligence is unreleased but my source says it significantly differs from that of the PSNI @BelTel
It was "almost certain" that dissidents were among protesters and it was "possible" they had access to firearms.
It is "possible" the guns could have been used to attack police.
Police Intelligence re #Drumcree - as read to the court.

Jonathan claimed there were “firearms’ on the Garvaghy Road. He deserved to be ridiculed.
The intelligence report states it was “POSSIBLE” that dissident Republicans “MAY” have access to weapons. I’d suggest that intelligence has been consistent across the North for decades.
