Shiloh Luckey, 42, of #Inglewood, was arrested and charged in a 15-count federal grand jury indictment with defrauding venture capital funds out of more than $13 million by lying about her credentials and her now-defunct tax compliance startup company’s revenue, then using investors’ money to purchase a home, a Tesla, and pay for her wedding in the Caribbean. Luckey was arrested on Sunday in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, before she attempted to board a cruise ship for a vacation. Luckey was released on bond in the Southern District of Florida and is expected to appear in United States District Court in downtown Los Angeles in the coming weeks. Luckey is charged with nine counts of securities fraud, three counts of wire fraud, one count of bank fraud, and two counts of money laundering. @USAO_LosAngeles Additional details: justice.gov/usao-cdca/pr/for…

Founder of CaaStle sentenced to 5 years: “Besides harming investors in private markets, fraud in the startup space stunts growth and dims innovation,” said U.S. Attorney Jamie McDonald. “The women and men of this Office will work tirelessly to protect those investors and ensure integrity in those markets, so that innovation can thrive, and those who seek to undermine the integrity of those markets will face justice.” justice.gov/usao-sdny/pr/fou…

one of the worst parts about the last bull was the constant thoughtslop about vc-bloated infra projects with no path to revenue everyone knew deep down none of it was real, and the bearer of the cost ultimately fell to the retail investor holding the hot potato till the very end
These projects raised more than $500 million. VCs do also cry.

Literally nobody is as good at this as @KristinSmith as we run through the tape Developers believe in her leadership, members and staff seek her counsel, the anti-crypto army fears her, and she is a joy and a delight to have as a friend and mentor Win or lose, we are at the precipice of the unprecedented because of the work of an unchosen few who put in the countless hours, untold effort, personal risk, and substantial capital to build things like @SolanaInstitute @BlockchainAssn and @AIPLeads @KristinSmith is one of those few We should count ourselves lucky she is
We have come so far with this legislation since the House passed the Clarity Act a year ago. There has been a lot of bipartisan input, and it is the best, most comprehensive language we have seen. - @KristinSmith on with @MariaBartiromo

🚨 Here is the full 53 minutes of my crew and I exposing New York fraud, we uncovered over $190,000,000 in fraud as these fraudsters use the elderly and needy to commit fraud through adult and personal home care scams in NYC. Your tax dollars are paying for elderly Koreans and Chinese to play ping pong and do tai chi, while the fraudsters give $ kickbacks to those who enroll. Like it and share this video, the fraud must STOP. We ALL work way too hard and pay too much in taxes for fraudsters to steal from our pockets. These fraudsters have been able to defraud American taxpayers for years without any pushback from the public and politicians. Time is up. EXPOSE IT ALL AND END THE FRAUD.

NEW: The CFTC has charged North Carolina-based Argent Capital Management and its founder Trevor Vernon with fraud. The agency alleges Vernon raised more than $14 million from at least 60 investors, sent fake performance reports and used new investor funds to make payments to existing participants in a Ponzi-like scheme.

“It’s a few hundred thousand students that were unable or did not want to complete their FAFSA compared to the prior year,” @with_frank CEO Charlie Javice says. “COVID had a huge impact when it came to financial aid. … For this season, I do expect there to be a lot of momentum.”
