THANK YOU KELOWNA! I am so grateful for the support you gave me today. Please know that I do not take this lightly, and I will do everything in my power to serve our community well, while sticking to the policy promises I’ve made throughout the course of the campaign.

Vancouver voting for these questions overwhelmingly while electing a Green & Socialist council says a lot about where urban / core suburban voters are on the public safety file, and on the economics file. Huge lessons to take away from this.
BREAKING... City of Vancouver voters overwhelmingly voted "YES" in both public safety plebiscite questions. 68.6% for enhancing enforcement against public use of hard drugs. 68% on creating a secure medical treatment facility. #bcpoli #vanpoli #vanre dailyhive.com/vancouver/vanc…

Simultaneously true that: People are feeling a greater economic pinch than ever and moving towards radical options that they think will help make their lives affordable. & are very tired of open drug use / disorder, and will vote for ways they think will make things better.

I think it’s worrying that the (relative) technocrats pretty convincingly lost the argument in Vancouver (OneCity) on things like upzoning, let alone cutting the cost to build. People are not looking for housing specifics as much as they are looking for… movement politics?

Statistically significant surveys and elections - the best forms of community engagement. Outcomes are what truly matters at the end of the day. What have you delivered for people, not what words you’ve used or hours in meetings along the way.

Thank you, Kelowna. Last night, you gave me the honour of serving as your mayor for another four years. I don’t take that lightly, and I won’t take it for granted. There’s more work to do, and I’m ready to get to it.

This is a welcome start, but I went from fourth to ninth four years ago. Don’t celebrate too soon :)

BC municipal elections I'm keeping an eye on tonight (after canvassing all day on Saanich): - Saanich (go Zac and Teale!) - Victoria (go all 8 progressives) - Oak Bay (go Sam!) - Langford (hopefully they can keep their council) - View Royal (go Sacha!) - Vancouver (go Solomon!)

Just cast my ballot for the Kelowna Municipal elections. Excited and hopeful for candidates like @DavisJKyle and Indy Dhial to make it onto City Council, among a few others. Hopeful for some positive change to the direction of this city.

I don’t know if I have any followers from Kelowna, but Davis Kyle (@DavisJKyle) just barely missed out on getting elected last time around. It’d be great if he got passed the line this time as I’ve really liked what he’s put forward in his campaigns.

A helpful reminder for Kelowna voters watching the polls tomorrow. It is far from unprecedented to see someone in fourth place at the start of the counting go on to lose. Kelowna has significant geographic disparity in votes. Something to keep in mind.

Just cast my Provincial ballot in Kelowna Mission! Hoping we can see real investment in Kelowna over the next four years to help with acute infrastructure deficits for transit, care facilities, addictions treatment, and more.

Even at a social mixer tonight, I’m surprised at how many council candidates are vehemently against TOA upzoning and the RTE program. We live in very different worlds, if too much “competing with small landlords” is a basis to oppose housing affordability measures.

For a guy who hasn’t been prime minister since before the Xbox 360 was released, Jean Chrétien may go down as one of the most influential Canadian politicians of the 21st century

infonews.ca/news/7954235/kel… It’s disappointing that many other candidates have not turned down this endorsement. 5G and Chemtrails aren’t hills to die on. We need rational people at the council table, and that means not indulging in this kind of thing for a mere handful of votes.

I spent hours today at UBCO & OC meeting with students and staff outside the voting station buffer. People are ready for a change. Voter turnout is up, and Kelowna is ready for a council that focuses on the cost of living, quality of life, and a safe / inclusive community.

This is the line of reasoning for many politicians. Vote them out.
I keep thinking about this exchange. Blakeman says he's "created wealth" because of the skyrocketing home prices in Nassau County. The idea that young families are priced out just doesn't occur at all
