Regardless of whether or not STAR WARS was planned as a standalone movie, it was presented as an homage to the multi-chapter cliffhanger serials like FLASH GORDON, plunging you into the middle of a story already in progress.
Adults in 1977 who grew up with those films picked up on the nostalgia (& often remarked about it in reviews), but most of us kids had no idea! The title crawl "story recap" is the first clue. 🎬😎👍

I wanted to take a moment to show off the incredibly thoughtful care package from the incredibly talented @DavidRabbitte.
It was such a thrill to finally meet him in person a few weeks ago, and far too kind to send over these beautiful signed prints and goodies.

I’m gonna share a thread of advice for creators. I’ve been around the block and I’ve seen some stuff. Yes, yes, I’m controversial, I’m aware, but this is wisdom you can apply to your own career. Most of this is for artists as our commitment to a page takes longer, consumes more time.
It’s okay to say NO. Turn down assignments.
