We have a reckless president who has put a target on New Jersey’s back: Raising costs with a needless war, chaotic tariffs, and unchecked corruption. The GOP has stood by and let him do it. I’ll never stop standing up to this administration when they hurt New Jersey.

Grateful to knock doors with the Northwest Central Labor Council, the people who fight every day for workers across New Jersey and our country. This election is not about left or right. It is about right or wrong. We have to organize everywhere if we want a government that starts putting the interests of working people first. Now is the time to put in the work - talk to your friends and neighbors, and make a sure everyone you know has a plan to vote.

Tonight, Trump’s convention will cast him as the center of America’s political story. The truth is, no president is the main character in our American story - we, the American people, are. We are the heroes we have been looking for. We can organize, we can mobilize, and we can end the corruption, cruelty, and chaos of this administration. From the war in Iran, to reckless tariffs driving up costs, to cruel attacks on health care that are kicking people off their insurance and raising costs for everyone else - this midterm is our chance to send a message, demand accountability, and change the direction of our country. Presidents have power. But in a democracy, the people are always more powerful than the people in power.

These remarks by Mr. Murphy are vile. This is bigotry, plain and simple, and it must be resoundingly condemned. This kind of hate is cancerous. Left unchallenged, it spreads, and I will not let that to happen. This is more than an attack on Muslim and Arab Americans. It is an attack on what America stands for: our shared values, our common humanity, and the fundamental promise that every one of us belongs. This is the politics of weakness. It seeks to divide us in the hope that fear and resentment will advance personal ambition. An attack on the civil rights and human dignity of one community threatens the rights and dignity of us all. I stand with my Muslim and Arab neighbors, because I revere their dignity and their rights, and because this is about something larger than any one community. I will not let Mr. Murphy, or anyone else, divide us. That is not who we are as New Jerseyans, and it is not who we are as Americans.
