The heat in the Southwest U.S. is incredible. #Vegas saw its fifth day with temps of at least 115°F (46°C). During the first nine days of July, ~2.2 billion gallons of water just vaporized from Lake #Shasta.
This isn't normal. #ActOnClimate

As a "baby" teacher I participated in @Perimeter's teacher program, EinsteinPlus, and it transformed my teaching practice.
Last week (18 years later) I had the privilege to be on the facilitation team at #EPLUS2024 with a great group of humans. My #physics ❤️ is full.

I don’t promote my books too much here but if you’re suddenly saying: shoot, gotta get something for Mother’s Day, this is truly a good choice: goodreads.com/book/show/1230…

I’ve run the exoplanet breakout box a lot now and I have a few tricks up my sleeve. I’m trying out some new ways to share beyond Twitter so you can find them on Instagram and YouTube @physicswithmcp

Flying to Saskatoon today and fired up a cosmic ray detector at altitude. The count was ~26/s as opposed to just below 1/s baseline back home. Neat! [Thanks to @uw_icecube for the loan of the detectors!] #iteachphysics #internationalcosmicday

Perimeter was thrilled to host acclaimed Irish musician and songwriter @Hozier and his bandmates yesterday. The group got a tour of the building with @AstroKatie and learned about some of the foundational research being done here. Thanks to the band for stopping by!

Cracked out this oldie but goodie this weekend to review before presenting Monday to a team from Mexico. This resource is pure gold and full of great intro/first week/community building activities if you haven’t seen it.

1/ Inspired by the arrival of this beauty, here’s a thread of books that help us understand and overcome the barriers that people put up to save ourselves from having to think about climate change and take action
