New and exclusive! 🚨👀🔥
Watch @davidcrosss and Prof Michael Oppenheimer discuss the climate crisis far too frankly - in the US launch of the "Climate Science Translated" hit series.
Contains an appropriate level of swearing.
Hurricane Isaias Translated!
Isias is now reclassified as a dangerous Category 3, and headed for the US Gulf Coast.
Here's a highly educational video we made earlier that helps explain what's going on here...😱🚨💥

📣 First screening of People's Emergency Briefing in a national parliament!
The film was shown at Holyrood last night. Grateful to First Minister John Swinney for committing to helping ensure it is “shared and understood very widely within Scotland”.

“Hope comes from honesty.” Our screenings show this: 87% of survey respondents leave more motivated to act.
Prime Minister, will you join a screening of the People’s Emergency Briefing to see what trusting the public with the full picture can achieve?

We can't carry on as we are.
Politics as usual has taken Britain backwards, and more of the same won't get us where we need to be.
Today, I'll set out a different path for our country.
That means having an honest conversation about the things we've ignored for too long, from fixing social care and tackling youth unemployment to giving people more control over energy, water and housing.
Hope comes from honesty.
It comes from saying the things politicians usually avoid, being straight about the challenges we face, and having the courage to fix them.
That's exactly what I will do.

Sigh. The claim that Democrats should drop climate as an issue is wrong.
1) It is dumb to drop a platform that the majority support and that your opponent is absolutely terrible on.
2) We do need to get to net zero now in order to halt heating at a relatively safe level.

Fully agree with David Cross here - although he left out how the Saudis have also scuppered global climate action for decades. Surely some hilarious material there.

He's too modest to say, but Andrew Dessler has led and coordinated a full-court scientific response to that execrable, climate-denying "report" from the DOE.
It was a massive effort, accomplished in mere weeks.
And the response itself is of historic importance, because...

New study maps the planetary boundary of “functional biosphere integrity” and finds that 60% of global land areas are now already outside the locally defined safe zone.....
This is the first global map showing where the biosphere’s functional integrity is exceeded, and how biomass use, ecosystem disruption and carbon sinks are connected. It’s a breakthrough for understanding how to safeguard Earth’s life support systems.

I’m sure people think I’m nuts when I frequently say the media has failed to adequately convey the magnitude of danger we face from the climate crisis.

Shell and other fossil-fuel companies have abandoned the Science Based Targets initiative—a six-year-long attempt to define a global, corporate “net zero” emissions strategy—after being told that such a standard would require them to stop developing new oil and gas fields.
