While Mumbai Airport remains the second most disrupted airport with strong winds and weather related delays, it’s rather disgustingly shameful that the airport’s @X handle does not even mention disruptions! Isn’t it responsibility of a utility like an airport to update fliers of weather and update delays … why is basic information availability in India a struggle? The last update by Mumbai Airport is about ‘copra’ , approx 21 hrs ! @CSMIA_Official #adaniairports @jeet_adani1 @MoCA_GoI

Only thing offensive about this photo is the Cheetah copter. Uncles/incels/wannabes should be furious over how the Army has failed to replace Cheetahs for 20 yrs! Last month, a Maj Gen had a narrow escape in a crash. But no, they'll fulminate over young love in a new world.

Years ago, during a layover in Delhi, I promised a baggage handler employed by my (then) airline that I could meet him that evening to meet his family—including his six-year-old son—and give the boy a storybook I was bringing from New York. The loader warmly invited me home and asked me to stay for dinner, and I accepted. Later that same day, the CMD of our airline—a senior bureaucrat—asked me to join him for dinner to discuss an important matter. I politely declined, explaining that I had already made a commitment to the other family. Months afterward, the CMD referred back to that incident in a large gathering and shared some words I have never forgotten: True character is revealed when you honor commitments made to those who are powerless and have nothing to offer you.

Spending money on CPL classes is an absolute waste. Those subjects are literally at the level of class 7th & 8th syllabus with an application to aviation. It’s that exam fearing culture that makes students spend money on those classes.

HR is the only department that gets a free pass for being completely useless. They produce zero revenue, kill morale with endless policies, protect the company NOT you, and somehow still get invited to every meeting like they're essential. Remove 90% of HR tomorrow and the business would run smoother, faster, and happier. Change my mind. 🔥

Tammie Jo Shults was flying a routine passenger route when everything unraveled. On April 17, 2018, Southwest Flight 1380 was climbing through 32,000 feet on its way from New York to Dallas. The skies were clear. The flight was normal. Then the left engine failed catastrophically. The explosion ripped metal from the engine, shattered a window, and tore a hole in the fuselage. The cabin depressurized in seconds. Oxygen masks dropped. The aircraft yawed hard to the left. Smoke filled the cockpit. Passengers screamed and clutched their seats as the plane plunged. One woman was partially pulled from the aircraft before fellow passengers dragged her back inside, holding on with desperate strength. In the cockpit, alarms blared and instruments flashed warnings faster than they could be read. Shults and her first officer were suddenly flying a wounded aircraft at the edge of its limits. Years earlier, Shults had been one of the first women to fly fighter jets for the U.S. Navy. She had trained for chaos, for failure, for moments when clear thinking was the difference between life and death. Now, every one of those lessons mattered. Her voice over the radio stayed calm and direct as she declared an emergency and aimed for Philadelphia. She fought the damaged controls, compensated for the lost engine, and managed the rapid descent without tearing the aircraft apart. Inside the cabin, flight attendants shouted commands, passengers helped one another with masks, and strangers held hands as the ground rushed closer. When the plane touched down hard but intact, applause broke out—followed by stunned silence. One passenger had died from injuries caused by the explosion, a loss that weighed heavily on everyone aboard. But 148 others walked off that aircraft alive because a woman in the cockpit refused to panic, refused to freeze, and relied on skill earned through years of perseverance in a profession that once told her she didn’t belong. © Women In World History #archaeohistories

Dr. @dr_sivaranjani painstakingly fought for 8 years to convince the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) to heed the harms of fake ORS drinks targeting children, flooding the market from greedy corporate companies. She won. FSSAI ordered the ban on the use of “ORS” in product names except for WHO-approved formulations - which meant that these companies fake mislabelled products could not be sold. But then, she lost. In a new twist of events, the Delhi High Court and FSSAI has now ordered that fake ORS products, especially the worst and the most stocked one - ORSL Drink by JNTL Consumer Health (the name for the Indian consumer health subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson, which is now known as Kenvue) can continue to be sold temporarily under the High Court’s interim protection. The Court and FSSAI has essentially allowed the sale of fake mislabelled products worth 180 crore Indian Rupees to protect the interest of the greedy corporations without any concern for the children's health. As a citizen of this country, you can help the good doctor and her great deed by BOYCOTTING THESE SUBSTANDARD PRODUCTS - LET THESE PRODUCTS ROT ON THE SHELVES. The public is the most powerful entity of a Nation. Let us be one and take care of ourselves and our children. Do not buy these SUGARY products with zero health benefits and do not follow WHO Standards- and spread the word please! Share maximum! ORSL by JTNL (Johnson and Johnson, Kenvue) REBALANCE VIT ORS (ReddyLabs) GLUCON - D ORS (Zydus) The Courts allowed it. FSSAI consented to it. But as the public of this country who value our childrens health, let us not. Make sure these greedy corporations suffer for their deceptions.

VIDEO | Veteran pilot Sharath Panicker reacts to the preliminary AAIB report on Air India AI 171 crash. He says, "the fuel control switches were discovered in the run position. There’s no reason for any pilot to move those switches during the critical phase of flight. At that point, both pilots would have been fully engaged, hands on controls, focused on stabilising the aircraft. The switches would typically only be moved after an engine failure above 400 feet, once the aircraft is stable. Based on the current information, I don’t believe this was a deliberate act by the pilot...” (Full video available on PTI Videos - ptivideos.com)

To Mr. N. Chandrasekaran Chairman, Air India Subject: When Silence Speaks Louder Than Leadership Dear Mr. Chandrasekaran, They say leadership is about showing up — not just in boardrooms, but in moments that truly matter. Today on June 17th when Capt. Sumit Sabherwal — the Commander of Air India flight AI 171 — was laid to rest, you were just a few kilometres away in Mumbai. Yet, neither you nor a single board member of Tata Sons or Air India found the time, or perhaps the inclination, to attend his funeral. Not one. Capt. Sabherwal wasn’t just a name on a payroll or a line item in the cost column of a ₹3000 crore aircraft. He was a human being. A son, a colleague, a commander entrusted with hundreds of lives each flight. But more importantly, he was one of yours — part of the Tata family, or so we’re often told in town halls and mission statements. And yet, as his 88-year-old ailing father stood by his son’s pyre — alone, broken, and betrayed — the Tata Group, that venerable institution that once stood for grace and humanity, could not even spare a board representative. No shoulder to lean on. No condolences delivered in person. One wonders: is this the “New India” the Tata Group wants to lead? You see, leadership is not just about IPOs and synergies. It’s also about presence — especially in the dark moments. Ashwani Lohani, a former Air India Chairman, understood this. When a relatively junior Flight Despatcher passed away in Mumbai years ago, Lohani didn’t send a card or a floral arrangement. He showed up — and went further, offering the grieving wife a job. No cameras. No LinkedIn posts. Just humanity. Now imagine for a moment — would J.R.D. Tata have stayed away? Would Ratan Tata, who personally visited animal shelters and grieving ex-employees, have sent regrets via social media posts and emails? No, they would’ve been there. Because they understood that airplanes may cost thousands of crores, but the men and women who fly them are priceless. It’s not about protocol, sir. It’s about people. And when the Chairman of Tata Sons cannot find time to attend the funeral of a Captain who dedicated his life to serving the skies under the Tata banner, what message does that send to the rest of the crew? The message is loud and clear: You’re just a name in a roster. A code in the system. An employee number.Replaceable. Today, the employees of Air India feel abandoned. Not by fate, not by circumstance, but by you. And in your absence, we saw everything. Warm regards (though with little warmth left), [Name withheld] On behalf of many disillusioned voices | Captain Sumeet Sabharwal’s Funeral Today | ... youtube.com/live/SwRgLMd8weI… via @YouTube

Terrifying. Reminds me of Air France 447 which crashed into the Atlantic in 2009 (also Airbus jet). Similar--pilots losing airspeed indication due to possible pitots freezing up, autopilot cutting out, triggering nightmare errors in cockpit. These @IndiGo6E pilots are HEROES.

In Moments of Fear, One Truth Stands Tall: Trust the Pilots When a recent @IndiGo6E flight was battered by severe weather, fear swept through the cabin. Passengers whispered prayers and clutched hands—but amid the turbulence, one truth rose above the chaos: only the two pilots in the cockpit could get them safely home. This wasn’t just a moment of crisis; it was a moment of clarity. India’s airline pilots are more than just trained professionals—they are guardians of life in the skies. Every day, they carry immense responsibility with quiet courage and precision. Yet they do so while facing relentless pressure, long hours, and often, deep neglect. It’s time we faced a hard truth: well-rested, emotionally healthy, and fairly treated pilots aren’t a luxury—they’re a lifeline. Respect, fair compensation, humane schedules, and meaningful support aren’t perks. They are essential. For every passenger, this is a call to action. Stand with India’s airline pilot community. Speak out against exploitation and unfair treatment by airline operators and the systemic apathy of @DGCAIndia. Their skill protects us. Their steadiness holds us. Let’s make sure they are never taken for granted. @MoCA_GoI @RamMNK
