Said it before and will say it again - there's no event/conference like @SQLBits across the industry and other areas of MS community are just starting to catch up. If you can, you should attend this. The career development that comes from this is immeasurable!

Can't imagine many people agreeing with this. I think doing a job you enjoy can make a huge difference to your overall happiness, but we're only taking that job to start with because we need the money

Started seeing an odd trend recently (particularly at MS) where people with very little industry experience (graduate/1-3 years) are called Solution Architects. Is this normal? Not being a techie I can't say with any certainty, but aren't SA's meant to be seasoned experts?
