if all you do is playtest ttrpgs and/or stream playing ttrpgs, i strongly deeply passionately encourage you to take some of the people you trust most and gather together and play for the sake of playing for a bit

TTRPG Tip 49. #dnd defined three pillars of play: combat, exploration, and roleplaying. Not all RPGs use that model, but a game often has divisions that help us understand game play and design. Each phase can also do something unique in the game vs. story generator split.

Wrong question. What DMs should do is create a list of choices that tie directly into the setting and campaign, and work with the players to pick from these and help flesh them out into something that works for everyone.
Should Dungeon Masters in Dungeons & Dragons be allowed to veto character backstory elements that don’t fit their campaign?

There is insufficient money in the TTRPG ecosystem for it to pretend that it's a sustainable industry for most people who would like to make a living in it.
What TTRPG opinion would get you in this position?

Sauron is not an eye. The eye of Sauron is most likely in reference to the Palantir he has. There is some debate on if the eye is meant to be his own wisdom and foresight amplified by the Palantir. But there is no debate on if Sauron is a big giant flaming eye.

Hot takes are best expressed through design. If you're a designer, you can make a bigger and healthier impact on the scene and your own mind by making a game that demonstrates your opinion than by posting about it. When doing this, you will also often find out you're wrong.

Just received The Last Caravan by @TedBushman. Cracked it open for the first time and the end sheets are a topo map, the credits page has another map, and then the background design on every page are GIS style maps. This book has got me ON LOCK.
