I trust the EU to try and protect my interest more then our government and I'm British...
Have strong opinions of the excessive use of AI by CONIFA these days, but this is perhaps the earliest they've managed to actually drop details of a tournament to the point it's almost impressive if the bar wasn't starting so low. 1 wild card slot will be interesting
Great news for Rotherham United Women, the AI slop could have been skipped is my only criticism
Rotherham United Women FC has unveiled a £9.5m vision for a 2,000-capacity stadium, national women’s football centre of excellence and community sports village.
📣 Have your say: 26 Oct–9 Nov 2026.

Fine, I'll go to Chicago for the WWC
Chicago walked away from hosting men’s World Cup matches in 2026, but the city has now entered the race to host matches at the women’s World Cup in 2031.
The U.S., along with Mexico, Jamaica and Costa Rica, is the sole bid to host the women’s edition of the tournament in 2031. Chicago has now confirmed its entry into host city bidding, while Portland has also submitted paperwork to U.S. Soccer.

The NSL gonna be bigger than the CPL in a fraction of the time while opening in the exact markets the CPL should be growing in but struggling
The Waterloo region has entered the NSL Chat.
A group including former CanWNT star Helen Stoumbos is hoping to bring an NSL franchise to the Tri-Cities.
According to this article, they are targeting a 2028 kickoff and aiming to raise $15M for the franchise fee.
I'd be lying if I didn't have something like that already in the works (without the all-expenses-paid part)
But got some games to tick off before the end of the year
Playing outside the heartlands might actually help grow the sport, Japan has grown massively since hosting in 2019 and Spain is already one of the strongest European teams outside the 6 Nations
Nou Camp and Bernabeu key to Spain's leading bid for 2035 Rugby World Cup
🔴 Final at Barcelona's stadium
🔴 Real Madrid, Atlético, Valencia, Bilbao also on board
🔴 Spanish bid expected to beat Japan and Argentina

With radio silence on the topic we can assume they'll be no CONIFA Men's WFC in 2027 (but I'm aiming to go up for 1 day of the women's WFC)
So the question is how confident are people that one will be held in 2028? 10 years after the London tournament

2 years since I last went to watch hockey, and first since moving. Cardiff reminding me why it's my second favourite sport 🤩
5-2 win over Belfast in a loud arena, beats a leisure centre ice rink (sorry Guildford) 🏒🏴
The CONIFA Africa Jamboree has been scaled down to the Africa Refugee Cup. Details regarding numbers, participants and schedule remain sparse, but wish them luck

🤖 Made with AI
In typical me style, I had been looking at organising a game next year and made some venue progress.
But whether or not the original plan gets that far is still in the air, but why waste a good opportunity. A condition is that the game must be for charity.

The design motifs…
3 motifs on this shirt:
🦈 Pako (shark's tooth) — zigzag lines
🐢 Bod (turtle shell) — hexagonal pattern
🪵 Elonwa (driftwood) — natural forms from our shorelines
Set on navy, with our flag's orange and white.
(5/10)
While 2027 might be a little ambitious now, I'll always ask the question, "Can something be delivered?"
That question normally becomes "who's gonna pay for it?" Even for a small tournament, it ends up in the £1000s
I could get the teams within days, but funding? Much harder
Closer cooperation between the next top 4 nations in Europe outside the 6 Nations is always a good sign

Liechtenstein teams has B and even C teams in some cases playing in the Liechtenstein Cup, so they have the player pool (technically) so what's stopped there being an 8th club?
Is the Liechtenstein FA stopping new clubs from being formed?
